without going into to much detail there is a %75 chance my grand prix is totaled... heres where i need help. i know some of you guys and girls have subarus and cobalts and other cars. if it is totaled i need ideas for a good car to get? ive been looking at subaru impreza wrk sti or a cobalt ss i just want to know some pros or cons of them and if they are good cars. and if you have any other ideas for a good car to get then please let me know asap. i dont know if i want another gp or not if so its going to be a gtp. thanks
 


What can you afford?

Start there.

Then start looking, test driving, etc.

See what you like.

Then do research on things to look for, or do this after you find out what you can afford.

Depends on how much of a rush you're in.
 
im 17 so i cant really afford a ton, and my parents sure as heck arent going to give me a dime towards it, so probably 7k to 12k if im really lucky and can get a loan. id like a subaru but i dont know if thats more of a off road rally car than a dd and the cobalt ss is pretty pratical but its a...cobalt. i know a couple guys own these i just want their opinions on them to know if its somethin id like.

and my dad works ata a dealership so i can get a small discount off these cars so that should help
 
Sounds like a GP is the perfect match. honestly being only 17 I wouldn't recommend not getting a car loan and worry more about the future first plus I believe you have to be 18 to get a loan or finance something. Your future isn't guaranteed you could be having to fork up money for a education, rent, medical etc it best to avoid putting yourself into a car payment ATM. Just some advice for you.
 
well you see if you buy a cobalt or wrx for that price they will most likley be beat to all hell
 
yeah thats true, but i had a loan on my gp that i totaled since last year and it builds good credit for me. i know i can afford it because ill be working full time and goin to school this summer but school will be payed for with scholarships so im good there.

This! Guys aren't selling those cars for that price unless they're high mileage and more then likely have been beat to death resulting in potential costly repairs , while maintaining a car payment
 
Good luck finding a wrx with low miles that hasn't been driven really hard...cobalt ss/sc has tons of torque steer and is slower then a gtp from what I have heard
 
thats very true, i dont want a trashed car, if i get one its going to be nice a clean and im going to baby the hell out of it. but if those are out of my range then what do you guys suggest?
 


A job is not always guaranteed (or hours especially being young there's not always hey it'll be easy for me to find a job I have so much experience with this that wtf) I don't want to sound like a negative Nancy but any day reality can hit and something like medical, repairs, losing a scholarship or parents cutting you off (not saying they help you or anything but they could just randomly say hey your 18 its time to do your own).

And you might need a cosigner on w/e you get.
 


ive had this job for 2 and a half years i dont think ill lose it but i see what you are sayingand i was thinking about gettin another gp but i kinda want somethin different
 
I was at my job for almost 4 years..nothing guaranteed but I would go test drive something first and then make a decision.
 
the guy a work with does drugs at work steals cars off the lot and steals gas and hasnt been fired my boss has told me im good aslong as i dont top that lol and my dad wont let me test drive a ton of cars unless im really sure i wantto buyit which is retarded. but any other good car suggestions?
