Want to make my '04 impala ss faster

I have been out of the modding L67's curcuit for 5 or so years now, Soo i lost most of my knowledge. Anyways i want to do just a few things to it nothing major, as this is my daily and i have a H/C/I '98 camaro to get my need for speed on. I was thinking of doing a cai, smaller pulley and exhuast and mail in tune. Now i hate the sound of a full exhuast v6(headers, downpipe, catback) Soo i guess i can get away with eaither doing a 3inch downpipe or some cheap headers and keep the stock exhaust. I was thinking doing a 3inch catted downpipe stock manifolds and call it good ? maybe a 3.5" pulley instead of a 3.4 to be on the safe side ? and i'm thinking a fwi this time ? which is the best one to get ? (fit, quailty, actual hp gain) and does zzp still do good mail in pcm tunes ? and of course some autolite 605's ? How does that all sound ? Has all my knowledge fade away ?

Sounds like you're dead on to me. I would recommend stock exhaust manifolds, a 3" catless downpipe if you don't have a sniffer test for emmisions, and stock exhaust behind that.

Then, some kind of intake...FWI, CAI, HAI, etc...

3.5 pulley

Any off the shelf pcm's will be fine. ZZP, WBS, Intense, 3800 performance, Overkill, etc..

Autolite 605's would work great as well.

awsome, that's good to know i have a decent memory haha. I would prob will go with a catted 3" because our state looks for them but doesnt do the sniffer test.

the do make a piece of pipe that looks like a cat on the outside and is a straight pipe on the inside, just buy a cone filter from the autoparts store and put it on the end of the TB thatll work just as good. i wouldnt go with a 3.5" thats a little small 3.6" is pushing it as is with headers. as for the canned tune id try to find someone local who can tune first as a in car tune will always be 10000X better then a canned one

3.6" is pushing it with headers?

Thats false.

In car tunes are the best but if you can't find someone to do it for you, I would recommend Overkill for your mail in PCM.

Yes that's what I meant hahaha sorry idk man I'm just speaking from experience but then again my cars hates mods :/....and maintenance hahahah
