Why does my car hate fog light relays?

This will be my fourth relay set for my fogs as tonight I found out my passenger side fog light was out so I went to look at the relay and it had all this green/white/blue mold on it. I went to take the relay off and sand the mold off with sandpaper and one of the prongs snapped off. Does anyone know what some reasons could be for my car always killing relays after a few months? I just got this relay at christmas time and its already broke. I have a 2004 gt with HID low beams and fogs. The low beams work flawlessly but the fogs always stop working on one side after a few months. Thanks in advance

do you run a harness that connects to the battery for the fogs

my harness on my explorer did that, the connections got road salt in them after a snowstorm last year. They got all green and blue, corroded, then stopped working.

Yes sir, that would be the relay. I dont get why it always has mold looking stuff on it and shorts out on one side

So is it best to get a new one and tape the s*** out of it with electrical tape?

get a new one, not a 2 dollar ebay special, dieletric grease on fitting and some sealant, youll be good to go

my car hates them as well. sometimes they don't turn on, sometimes only one turns on, and sometimes the fuse will blow. stupid relays...

Yea I know they work but I am trying to find a quality one that will not crap out on me again in a few months. Is amazon good quality?

Thats were I got mine, not sure what vendor. They sure have a load of them. I guess it would be a crap shoot, reading the reviews, price ,how the pictures look combined with keeping your fingers crossed. Otherwise, with the ill acquired touch of paranoia you probably have encountered with past harnesses your best fail-safe solution would be TRS The Retrofit Source online: headlight upgrades for all applications

Am I just missing the harness on the link you posted or what cause I dont see a 898 harness

This the one you are talking about Low Beam: 880/881 - Relay Harnesses from The Retrofit Source Inc
It doesn't say specific 898, but the connections are the same for the 800 series. The different numbers are straight or 90 degree connectors or wattages..
make sure you put some dielctric connections and maybe some silcone like JTeske mentioned.

Sorryan I was thinking of gxp fogs which use h11 bulbs not 898. My bad
