GTP is Sold! ''Downgraded'' to another Turdgen...

Re: 00 Redfire Gtp. Gen V?

Well got alot of things done. I picked up alot of parts recently. I got a wicked deal on a Gen V a few weeks ago. Picked up a complete Gen V setup for $50... Yes $50. A family friend runs a local yard and he got a wrecked Comp G and I got first dibs. I pulled the Gen V and LIM. Car had headers but the rad support was bent onto them. I started polishing it and it looks wicked. Still have to step up to 1000 grit and do the finishing polishing. Pictures soon, its too dirty to show off right now. :th_jester:

On another news, I started polishing my Eagles..

One wheel needs alot more work but they def do shine! Going to give them another pass next weekend, my power cone is all used up. I also went to a local yard and spent close to 2 hours looking for decent fog lights and found a almost perfect pair. All that time just to purchase $20 walmart replacements and going with those instead....

I was running 35W 893s? I think, not a good idea lol

For those wanting to upgrade foglights, these are nice. Easy to adapt to the stock brackets. H1 bulbs that come stock are nice and bright and pure white. I seriously see no need for Hids but its nice to know I can upgrade to Hids if I want to. These are 18.98 at my local walmart.

As far as performance, I have my mind set on a Gen V swap for now. Headers as well, probably going with Speed daddys. I have my tint appointment next saturday. :)

As far as pictures of the car, nothing good to show. Car is my daily so shes looking like this right now...

Re: 00 Redfire Gtp. Gen V time?

Must be nice to have a buddy with a yard HAHA. I almost bought those same fog lights. I still might depending on your pictures, day and night please.

Re: 00 Redfire Gtp. Gen V time?

Will get some tomorrow, big difference over stock. Even with the 35w in stockers. These with projectors are very nice.

Re: 00 Redfire Gtp. Gen V time?

Well before you trade and or sell it, can I see some night time pics of those new fog lights please, thanks.

Re: 00 Redfire Gtp. Gen V time?

I will get some tomorrow texas hopefully.

Jerz, I am getting rid of it due to wanting to back to something faster. Only way I see myself staying with this platform with my goals is by going turbo, which in return will require me to get a built trans. I see around 4-6k into that. While if I go switch to my old favorite platform (Fbody), I can put to use my Turbo kit I never sold from my 86, Decide on a Turbo, Pickup a JY 5.3 and pickup my buddies 4l80e for basically free and have a pretty fun car for under $3000. 5.3 Turbo Builds can make anywhere from 400-600rwhp depending on the setup and can be close to if not better in driveability than my GTP.

Honestly the culprit to all this is my buddies LQ4 76mm turbo setup.

Im not really pushing the sale, Havent had much interest from Craigs besides a few people but their offering $1500 rusted Thirdgens...

Re: 00 Redfire Gtp. Gen V time?

agreed.

i want to get myself into something more fun, better drivers car, but i just can't seem to want to part with my car..
and i know if i had a fast car. i'd lose my license in a month lol

thats why i'm just lookking to do a comfortable 3.4setup and maybe mild rockers down the road.. keep myself out of trouble haha

Re: 00 Redfire Gtp. Gen V time?

Well she is gone!

Picked up this rough pos.. 1983 Camaro Z28. Mainly bought it just wanting a solid body. I got alot of goodies and I keep finding more the more I look and inspect it. Motor is a 350 LT1 confirmed by the Head/Block ID. Very pleased. Rear end has a very strong Posi/Limited Slip, PO said it has 4.11s, still have to yank the cover and check. Car is very solid and doesnt have any serious rust. Car already has a full 3' exhaust with Cutout.

She just needs a tune up and I have to tune in the Holley right. She cruised perfect on the highway with ****ty dryrotted tires.

Plans are finishing my 5.3 Turbo swap I had planned for my 86 Firebird. Even know its still way more fun than my GTP lol

As far as the GTP, Expect a FS soon with granaded tranny for it on Craigs.. I already got a text from the kid saying the car keeps throwing the security light. Im 100% they probably removed the plastic cover off the key since it was falling off already...

Re: 00 Redfire Gtp. Gen V time?

YES. You made a good choice my friend.
buddy of mine has a turbo 5.3 in his 86...that thing HOWLS.
what are you gonna do for trans? 6 speed?

Re: 00 Redfire Gtp. Gen V time?

:( now some kid gets to trash your ride wondering why you decided demos it a bit?

Why I didnt demod it? Well I am honestly kicking myself over not doing so, I could of swapped in the stock PCM, Kept the DHP. Slap on the stock spoiler and kept the Gen 2, Same with the power log and made some money on the side but decided not to in the end. I already have soo much crap from my previous cars. Im honestly glad I sold it, I had no sentimental feelings for it honestly. Rockers were gone, Paint was looking more and more dated and I hated to think of me modding it further and then having the trans go out.

I have soo much crap from my previous Thirdgens...

Basically I have a bunch of performance parts laying around, my old 17' TT Wheels (295s Rear MT :D), Hooker 1 3/4 Long Tubes, My old 9 bolt with 3.23s (Thinking of swapping this in for the Turbo setup and selling the current 4.11 10 bolt), as well as the Turbo Logs, crossover and down tube with cutout for a turbo setup for a 5.3..

I would love a T56 (6 speed) but unless I get a decent deal on one, which I see most go for $1500~... I would probably get my buddies 4l80e.

Re: 00 Redfire Gtp. Gen V time?

Well update on the GTP... He decided to yank the plastic off the key since it was falling off (Keep in mind its been falling off for over a year now, I was just careful and didnt mess with it). Now the car wont stay on due to the security pk3.... He texted me if I had a spare and said it fell off at a store.. I find that hard to believe, Im sure he decided to just yank it off.

As far as the Camaro, man the kid who owned it before me is really something. 6/8 Spark plugs loose.. All gapped at .20-.28. Spark plug wires routed horribly causing the headers to burn through em. Cheap Valve covers from Moroso were causing a really bad oil leak. Replaced the gaskets and now its almost leak free, going to go on the hunt for original LT1 valve covers. Fixed all 5 of the exhaust leaks it had, All header bolts were loose, driver side header had two bolts missing causing a almost knocking sound. Y pipe gaskets replaced and cutout gaskets replaced. Leak free and she sounds good!

Still have to do alot, PO decided water is the best antifreeze and now I have to deal with it. Probably going to flush the whole system and pick up a 3row radiator like I had in my 86.

Overall she is making progress, right now I am dealing with the Trans linkage, I played with it more and adjusted it and she comes alive now. :)
