switching codes

hello all.. i just have a couple questions about the gtp. probably a month and a half ago on a rainy day, i got the code P0171 (system too lean (bank 1)). then it dried up and i deleted the code and it came back about 3 weeks ago on a damp day the same code came up. Deleted it and the next day (it was still damp) and it came back but this time it was P0172 (system running to rich
bank 1). I deleted it again and it came back 3 days ago. This also was a very rainy day and P0171 came up. i deleted it and then yesterday it came back P0172. I deleted this code and it that light hasn't come on since (its dry now). Any thoughts on what this could be? i have talked to a couple of family friends and they seem to think its dampness that is causing the codes. What do you guys think? i do get a little shutter under acceleration from a stop but thats it. The car hasn't had much done lately but had plugs and wires changed about 2k miles ago. Also on a side note do you think i would be able to drive the car on a little 300 mile day road trip with these codes?

Thanks alot,

Chris

Chris in your post you go back and forth from 171 to 172. 171 is lean, 172 is rich. Please clarify. As well ... search on my screen name and the P0171 code for a ton of info. I've found and fixed this code many times.

Alright I will look into that more.. Also on my way home from school it came up again and it was P0172 if I have time tonight I will check for vacuum leaks if not I will tomorrow

Well yesterday I sprayed the vacuum lines and couldn't find anything... I took the car today on the 340 mile trip and the code came up 3 times (I brought my obd 2 scammer) and I deleted it when it came up.. When I first scanned it I got P0172 and a code that read random cylinder misfires (can't remember the code) are these two related? That code never came up again for the rest of the trip but the P0172 came up 2 more times.. I also got 22 mpg on the highway at 80 or so with cruise on.. Any new ideas?

you cant check your egr lines with carb cleaner they usually split on the end where its covered. Also sounds like your maf, cleaning will not help if its dead. Unplug it and see how the car runs

okay i will do that tomorrow what will it mean if i unplug it and nothing changes? also how would i check my egr lines then?

and look for what exactly? and i do have an exahust leak before the 2nd o2 sensor.. that could possibly be the problem right?
