Ported exaust manifolds



I would spend the extra $130 and get pacesetters. Or minus $100 and get a plog, since the rear manifold isn't extremely restrictive [or so iv heard].
 
If you have the money, get headers. If not id go with the plog. It gives the engine bay a nice touch(if you get stainless), and saves you from buying dremel tool bits to port you stock manifold, and if you mess up the porting then you could mess the flow up.
 
We do ported mani's to. $180 for ours, but I'm out of stock on them right now. If you want I can get a set here and have them done next week.
 


For N/A engines a Plog is plenty. No need for headers. Don't get ported manifolds since the front can't be ported past the primaries (where it needs it) and the rear isn't restrictive.
 
Would i loose some power if i get the pacesetter headers with 1-5/8'' primaries? they are almost as much as a full set of plogs from zzp.

No you should gain power, but the pacesetters have had problems with sealing up flush and leaking. Unless your turbo, you dont need the rear powerlog. The rear mani. isnt nearly as restrictive as the front.

Stock mani's? that is odd:th_scratchhead: A smoother path and larger primaries (i.e. plog) would have a better flow. Just seems really odd.
 
I think they mean that you have to use stock type manifolds with their kit. Otherwise it won't bolt up right. People have seen large gains going from stock manis to ZZPs front and rear Plogs on turbo setups.

And, you can't use the rear Plog without a turbo setup. Can't use headers with turbo setup, so your choices become pretty easy. :th_laugh-lol2:
 


actually they use the stock manifolds because they handle heat a lot better cause of there size and weight, so there less likly to crack then aftermarket manifolds, but thats why you go with stainless it normally solves that promblem. the plog is 5 pounds lighter then the stock front exhaust manifold so theres less material to handle the heat.
 
Weight doesn't tell you much about the mass. Since the stock manifolds are iron you could switch to steel and them be the 5 pounds lighter without sacrificing any material.
 
good point, im not familiar of the weight of cast to steal but if you look at the plog it is much thinner then the stock ones.
