Story is I had to sell my baby, a 2004 Neon SRT4 that I had built bottom up, that was my sunny day and track car.. 450 whp and a blast to drive, but had to let it go due to losing my job, and my new job having a HUGE pay decrease, and I needed to take care of priorities, ( Bills, Fiance, Toddler ) So I sold it with the intent of buying a temporary $2000 beater, but my mind changed quick when I found this.. I paid triple what I wanted to , but still have enough left over to pay off a huge chunk of debt, and above all, It wasn't a compromise, I really like this car, and am pretty familiar with it since I also own a 2000 SSEi..

Not planning to do many mods, maybe just a stage one kit of some sort with pcm, fwi, catless DP, 180 stat 605s etc , just to open it up a little bit, but that might change, but no internal work seeing as how I just sold a fast car, that was actually more suited to race. Now I just want a reliable DD thats fun to drive.. Not only that but the Family I bought it from were great ppl with full maintenance records and the car is probably 8/10 - 9/10 in every area

On to the pics.. Heres the SRT I just sold

2004 Neon SRT-4

I have a few vids Ill post of the SRT , but I dunno if this is the right section..

Now onto the new toy :)

You will find lots of good information on this site.

Dont ever do a stage kit from a website.

Follow this post. Read, read, and read again.

lol Already read that :) VERY good post tho.. With having my Fully built dyno tuned SRT-4, I understand how a full tune will help .. and my Intense racing stg 1 SSEi I am aware of the crap "canned tune" that comes with kits.. I also agree in that thread you linked about a few DIY things.. Yea, I think $150+ for a piece of hose and a filter ( FWI ) is insane, but I just want a clean look under the hood.. But being out of the 3800 scene for a few years I haven't searched the forums much on a clean DIY CAI.. I have an Aeroforce gauge in my SSEi but that because Im running a 3.4 pulley and we have crap gas up here.. ( 93 )

If I could just put a 3.6 pulley on this without a Canned tune PCM I would.. I dont have HPTuners, nor does anyone in the area.. What I will do for sure on this car.. Probably my first mod ( mods ) are

-Coolant flush to get the DEXcool out of it
-ZZP Race DP ( catless )
-TransGo Shift kit ( or if there is something better , please let me know ) I know its just accumulator springs, but it does help.. It sure did in my SSEi at least

After that I will look into:

- Some sort of clean looking reasonable priced CAI setup
- 180* T-stat
- 605s

I did see on Intense racings site that the 06+ Gps need a 2004-2005 PCM??? Is that in general or just for HPTuners tuning?

You need exhaust mods to run anything smaller than the stock pulley. A downpipe is not enough to run a 3.6 in my opinion, it will still knock.

93 octane gas is good gas if you ask me. And think of a 3.6 like a 3.4 setup, the Gen V blower is better than the Gen 3 in the 97-03 cars.

06-07 pcms are not "tune-able" thats why a 04-05 is needed.

A thermostat change is not needed either, many people will say different.

And all 01+ cars run a cat diag in the PCM, so you'll need to have a cat converter or a tuner handy to get away from not needed one.

Crap .. so your saying thers no easy way ( just buying a stage pcm ) out of this? actually before I go any further... Do the 06 GP GTs have a U bend?

No u-bend on 04+.

I havent done a ton of reading up on the 04+ cars PCM's and about all the tuning required for the cat stuff because I'm lazy, but a "canned" PCM can work I think, but then it comes down to where you get it from. Overkill is hard to reach and his PCM's dont always work and I don't like ZZP.

Nice pickup man. Looks like you didn't go wrong.

Headers, tune, plugs, intake, shift kit, and call it a day. Benefit even better from headers for ~ the same price. No need to drop pulley unless you want to.

thats what I wanna know .. I remember speed daddy, slp ebay, and ton of other headers for this car, but since it doesnt have a restrictive U bend, it seems to me a set of headers might be worth it over a PLog...... Its like this.. I dont wanna spend MOD money on this thing.. all I wanna do is open it up, but it seems with this 06 PCm my options are limited
