02 GP GT ticking around belt/pulley system help

0 lbs boost

New member
I just had to change the plastic coolant elbows in my car after one had randomly blown up on me.
the car now runs fine and doesnt over heat, but theres a slight ticking around the belt and pulley area.
it sounds the pulley right under the alternator but i cant tell for sure. did i mess something up when my hose elbows
broke and the car got really hot, or is this just something that happens. also any idea how to fix and how much? thanks

obviously.... im trying to see if anyone knows what it is or has had something similar before i waste time pulling apart things.

No need to be rude, I am trying to help. It's a shot in the dark for anyone to know EXACTLY what the noise on your car is.

You could pull the belt and check the pullies.. this should take you under 10 minutes to do.
Or you can start the car and drip a little water on the bearings of the pullies and ....if it quiets down..that's the issue.
Or..you could get a mechanics stethescope and pinpoint the issue from the start w/o taking anything apart.

Cause..the last one is how us cool guys do it.

Dude this happened to me about 3 weeks ago my elbow busted and now i got a screach like tick... Exactly where you hear the noise. I changed my tensioner pulley below the alt as it didnt spin so freely i put a dap of lube on it and it remained quiet for about 3 mins or so... I also changed my belt as it was showing some wear and boom its good.... You cant get mad at the guys trying to give you ideas on where to start looking, most of these guys have been there done that maybe twice. Alternator may have gotten some coolant in it to as when your elbow breaks it will leak and then lap a bunch of coolant around your belts and pulleys. Good luck
