Whats the best way to debadge?

Well I did mine two ways of removing the badges. I pulled the first one off the trunk. I broke this one. Then I heated the pass side one with a hair dryer and pulled gently and the third, It came off in one piece and then I used my halogen light and warmed up the driver side. I then used a piece of dental floss and that worked the best.

Removing the glue adhesive is another story. That was a pita.

Here are the pics.

Thanks, yea i was more concerned with the other mods causing a difficulty [the plugs, 3.5pulley and 180* t-stat]. I was gonna wait so i can get all that and the badges done at the same time. I am most likely going to go with a yellow color scheme as my Break calipers are already yellow [the car is black]. I already priced it out and the badges/stickers i want [with the reflect dome] come out to be around $100.

Not bad, can't wait to see some pics.

dammit, see when i did mine, i was told to use goof off or goo gone and rubbing off the excess put scratch marks in my paint, and i have black.

May sound like a silly question but did you use a clean towel with the goof off? I remember removing wax from my old car with what Looked like a clean cotton rag, scratched my trunk up pretty bad.

Hopefully is anything gets scratched when i do it it is under where the badge is as i am replacing it with a new one.

I used a blowdryer and dental floss to remove the one on the trunk of my car. I used Goo Gone to remove the adhesive and did not have any scratches from it. The only bad thing is you can kind of see where the badge was when you get really close to it but other then that it looks fine.

i used a clean towel, and whenever bits and pieces came off, i shook the towel off. im really anal when it comes to black so i dunno how this couldve happened. only in the shade my car looks good.

To the OP. Why exactly are you replacing your badges again? Wouldn't an overlay make more sense?

Not quite sure what an overlay is. I was planning on replacing the two "GTP supercharged" badges on the sides with yellow ones, also replacing the Pontiac symbol on the front with yellow and getting the Pontiac in yellow on the back bumper. I'm getting all the products from reflectiveconcepts.com.

They only sell overlays to stick on top of your badges. They are basically like high quality stickers, so there is no need to take off your badges. Same goes for the front arrowhead too.

ya dont waste your money getting new badges when you can get any colored decal to cover the stock color which will be 10x cheaper.

Oh haha yea that's what i was looking at. Guess i didn't read to well exactly what i was looking at.

Lol it's ok, at least you didn't get to anxious and take the badges off already.

Very true. The part where it said OVERLAY should have been an indicator it wasn't a replacement badge.

Is their a way to prep the badges so the overlay will stick on them for the maximum amount of time. Besides cleaning them.
