Headlight Housing paint

I have HID's in the normal housing of my headlights and i have seen people paint the inside of them (reflective part) but i was wondering would this help with reducing some of the HID glare? Would it effect the visibility of the headlights? and does anyone have some pics of this being done?

I have heard of people painting their housings, but not without retrofitting projectors into the headlights.

The way I see it you have 3 options:
1) leave the lights the way they are
2)Retrofit projectors
3)Buy some aftermarket projector headlights that are compatible for use with and HID kit

Personally I would retrofit. Painting the housings so that they are non reflective would definitely reduce visibility. How much im not sure, I would venture a guess that it will be a lot.

Yeah i know about all those options, just dont have the time for the retrofit, not spending money on aftermarket projectors as they are trash, and was curious if anyone had done it.

Your going to make your output even worse by painting the reflector without running projectors. You say you don't have time but if your going to bake and crack open your headlights as well as allow enough time for the paint to cure...all that takes time.

-Either leave them stock w/ halogens and deal with the output till you get time.
- do a proper retrofit and not have to worry about glare.
- continue running hids and reflector base housing and glaring.

And not all aftermarket projectors suck...ur the actually ones u get off eBay for example do sick. But you could also get a oem based projector (not including headlights) or a replica to a oem projector.

There's options out there you just need to do your homework and decide what route to take or pay someone to do a retrofit for you.

Painting the housing does not limit the light output if it is a stock light. The stock lights have a larger chrome reflector than some of the aftermarket ones. Glare may be eliminated but your light output should stay the same. And yes projectors are the way to go with HIDs.

Alright thanks Guz, and i would love to do projectors but just to risky with the wiring for me and $$ wise.
