I am running on slicks this friday.
What rpm should i launch at??
Should i punch it off the line??
Or do i feather it out off the line, to prevent breaking my tranny??:th_scratchhead:

Well, putting slicks on your car allows you to punch the throttle. With so much traction you can achieve a great 60' time, but you are risking breakage just like any other mod. The other thing about slicks is that they aren't effective unless they are heated up. Doing a burnout is the way to heat them up.... If you only spin one wheel during your burnout you are risking the explosion of your differential.
You can prolly cut a pretty good 60' without heating them up, but you won't be able to get away with stomping the throttle off the line.

Edit: Heating the slicks up may allow you to launch from idle. I usually launch around 2K. This allows the diff. to load up to help power get to both wheels. Loading up the diff. can effect your ET though by making the car work harder robbing a bit of HP at the starting line..... The longer you powerbrake the more you are hurting your ET.

Hit the water box, spin the tires through it. Drive forward out of the water. Lock the rear brakes, drop down into 2nd. Hold the foot brake down and stall the car up by giving it a little throttle. Then at the same time floor it for a brief second and let off of the brake at the same time to ensure both tired will brake loose. Then hold it at just a high enough RPM to keep them both spinning well.

Make sure you put the car back in 'D' while your pulling up to the line. Hold the brake and the gas once again to stall the car up until it feels like it's about to move. Then take off at the last amber light. Not the green, if you take off at the green light your reaction time is crap.
 
How can i make sure i heat up both tires?
With street tires, i usually give a quick tap on the throttle to get the tires hot before staging.
I suck, at doing burn outs.
I press the foot brake, then release it a little.........then?

Don't do burnouts on street tires, it makes traction worse.

Foot brake, and give the car throttle at the same time until it feels as if it's about to move even with the brake on. Immediately, almost at the same time let off of the foot brake and pop the gas pedal wide open throttle to break them both loose. Do it right and they're both break loose every time. Then once they're loose, hold it at a steady RPM just high enough to keep them from grabbing.

Release the E-Brake when your satisfied and ride the burnout out for a ways.

You shouldn't be heating them up, you should be cleaning them off. With any tire it will benefit you to at least "scrape the tires" before staging to clean all the crap that you pick up on the return road and going through the pits.

I agree that doing a burnout on street tires is NOT beneficial, but cleaning them off with a quick scrape is.

Loading up the diff. like streetwolf recommended will help with a 2 wheel burnout, just as it will help with your launch.
 


Got the clean the street tires, not heat them up!
But,how can i make sure i heat up both slicks?
Or how do i engage the diferential, to prevent tranny breakage?
