E-85 and pulley.

just a quick question, but if i have plugs, 180* "d" themostat, intake and plog. would running e-85 allow me to drop the pulley and to what size?

you dont need extensive mods, just the right ones.

youre going to need bigger injectors and a tuner. basically it. everything else in the car is pretty much up to snuff. everyone says the gas tank and fuel lines are a problem since ethanol is "corrosive" but its not. take a chem class and youll know what im talking about.

It does cause certain rubber seals to degrade. Only an issue in older cars since newer cars have synthetic seals designed to cope with ethanol (because most gas is now 10% ethanol anyway).

yup yup.

ive got 65# injectors waiting to get dropped in so i can test out this e85 fad. ill only stick with it in the summer though. i need all the mileage i can get in the winter.

i am aware of the modification needed and will do the tune, injectors, pump and probably some shiney fuel logs!

im just curious if i can run like a 3.5 with the 105 octane and cooler charge?

im hoping to run a 2.8 with no intercooler on my setup with e85, but im not dropping any lower than me being able to run 18* of timing.

im hoping my pump will keep up, those are expensive to upgrade.

probably a 3.4 knock free. id get a downpipe on top of that so you dont start boost stacking. got the u-bend out already? do that if nothing else. intake done? do that too.

get a downpipe, rockers, and some bigger injectors and im sure youd be able to run around a 3.25 or so, but who knows cause i havent tried it yet to see.

im not trying to drop real low. its my dd. but i would like to beat f-bodys to give me some street savy! ;-) maybe high 13's you know. not to much

No way you can run a 3.25 with E85, maybe a 3.4 but i'll bet you'll still have knock. I have more mods than you and meth injection on top of that and i barely can run 3.20 pulley, but i also run 21* of timing and have better e.t.'s than anyone with my mods.

bio248.... running a 2.8 pulley with your mods on e85 is going to result in a blown engine. I wouldn't suggest it, not even thinking about it. E85 doesn't have the effect you guys might think it does without an inter cooler. If you really want to see the good effects of e85 get an inter cooler or a high compression bottom end. It might say i'm a newb because i don't post here a lot but trust me i know what i'm talking about.

yeah, ive been doing my reading a lot. im not just gonig to throw a pulley on and make it work. im going to play with it and run whatever pulley i can with 18* of timing. i think thats the sweet spot for our engines. its a DD so i dont want to run anything rediculous. ill have my happy knob and wideband hooked up soon enough, so we'll see where it takes me.

im probably not going to try it until next spring anyway, lots of time to plan.

x2 that's pretty slow... ls motors are known for their insane top end, but 14's.... :th_shakinghead1: You'll need a little more help than that to give an ls car a run for its money unless it's a simple bolt on gto, those are slow as balls lol to heavy!

Lmao, I agree. GTO's suck, but if it's a Camaro or a Trans Am with a LS1, there should be no reason (Other than a bad driver) that the car should'nt be able to run anywhere from a low to mid 13.

@104-107 depending on the car and the transmission. That's the important part, it's all about mph, that show true power. Or in my cars case it shows a trans that wouldn't shift out of second lol so my traps were a little off.
