• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

The Economy

dang why is everthing the Moderators or Admins say always right? lmao

Well I dunno about that. Im just as human as anyone else. I make mistakes too. And my thoughts and opinions on matters are not the end all be all of opinions but I do try and examine things closely and form my stances based on the information I can get.

The problem is that we all see things a touch differently based on life experiences, up bringing, values and things like that. The real problem is that we need to stop asking so much "What does this do for me specifically" rather more "What does this do for my community, my state, my country", etc. We are so focused on 'self' that we do not see how things affect the bigger picture and because of that we take far less action than we should unless it does affect us directly.

jez, there u go again...see what i mean?

Syn,

Thats all well and good however, we really do have the power HOWEVER you have to invoke your rights thru the court system to do something about it, and our LAZY society neglects to do this. I have the papers ready to file with my attorney however it wont be till next week that I can deliver those papers. We as a society have put ourselves in this mess, as well as the pigs in DC. Look at the crap they are pulling right now compared to 10 years ago.

but on another note, whitedevil, american's wont do sheet about the government. all these days we've had a chance to fight back against gas...days where the whole nation isant suppost to buy any gas and cripple exxon and shell...

Q: On those days how many dummies did you see at the pumps?
A: A whole freggin' lot!!!!!

Its just known, American's just will NOT pull together...

First, that won't work. Second, you obviously don't understand the problem. Gas prices are set by the world market, mostly by speculators and investors. Not by the oil companies. As long as the oil we buy is from the publicly traded market, there will be no "controlling" of the prices. The price you pay at the pump is about what the barrel of oil cost plus costs to refine and transport it.

And if you want to go blaming the "greedy oil company owners", start blaming yourself. Anyone have a retirement of any kind? 401k type deal or something? Most of those are at least partially invested in - you guessed it - oil companies. You are the greedy owners getting all that rising stock price back for your retirement. There is no group of shadowy old men in suits sitting around a long conference table smoking cigars as they shovel money into their pockets...

I too joined the service with money at least being one of my reasons. I wanted the education, but more so I wanted to do something different than I had been doing and to go somewhere else for a while. I'm now living somewhere else, working on my engineering degree, and I go to work every day and fix some of the most advanced electronic warfare systems our country currently uses. Ever put a part on order that costs 7.2 million dollars? It's a weird feeling the first time. Carrying that part is a whole different deal.

"People should not fear their government; the government should fear its people." its not just about gas prices, unfortunately the whole country has gone to sh*t at the hands of a government too ignorant or indifferent to consider the ultimate cost of their "act first, pay later" mindset. well, "later" has arrived and we're up sh*tcreek without an economic paddle. Kinda hard to get excited and involved in an election where tere's no real chance that things will improve. /end rant
