Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Caliper Bolts wont budge

Our caliper bolts dont have a locking mechanism do they? I have been at it for a while with the impact wrench and they wont move! Lil Blacky is all jacked up and wheels off and its taken me forever to get around to doing this job figures that the caliper bolts decide to stay put. Any input would be swell guys, havin a beer in the mean time!

nope.

righty tighty, lefty loosey.

hopefully you are going the right way lol.

Maybe try a socket wrench on the bolt and grab a pipe for more leverage, or hit it with the impact and help it along by pulling.

Just gotta be careful and not screw somthing up.

hit it with some heat. I've always done that and it never hurt a thing. One bolt I had to hit it with heat, a breaker bar, and a pipe just to turn it all the way out.

That's what I did just be careful not to set the rubber boot over the pin on fire, that's what I did too

Finally got it! Dam that thing was stuck on there I shudder to think how long its been since the last brake job! Paint is drying on the calipers and I should be putting everything back together soon. Had to impact it for like fifteen minutes on each bolt up front.

What the heck is this?????? Its like a plastic/rubber sleeve on the caliper bolt, its only on one of them for the front calipers and I have no idea what is is since non of the others had it. I assume its important.

you can buy a hardware kit, should come with sliders/bolts and the rubber ends, and new slide plates for the caliper bracket where the pads sit.

grease tthem slider pin up good with synthetic brake grease, sometimes you get a packet with new pads.

What if im reusing the caliper bolts and I just dont know which hole the guide pin goes into?

see if a chunk is broke off inside the caliper, what ever side has some it, the broke one goes there lol. im not sure top or bottom.

most of the time the rubber stays inside the caliper.

Sweet! Hey so is it possible for a caliper piston to seize open? I have been trying to compress this caliper piston and ive tried everything all the other ones compressed nice and easily?

make sure its not being pressed back in on a angle. if its square and straight, its seized. some times you cant really crank on it with a C clamp and the old pad over the piston, and crank it tight it may pop and slide back.

good time to buy a whole new caliper and bracket. come as one piece, all new hardware as well. you just re use your brake line.
