Subwoofer wiring question

I don't know much about how to do this but my daughter is wanting her subwoofers put into her 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP. I have looked at the rear speakers and the right one has a light blue and dark blue wire with a clip connector running to it and the left one has a yellow and black wire with clip connector running to it. Her subwoofers are two 8" enclosed in a box with a red and black connector for each sub( the connector is like what you see on house speakers) so my question is how do I wire the two subs? I have heard you could tap into the rear speakers and that is what I want to do if I can. She has factory everything. I am not adding an amp at this time if I don't have to. I know her system is not going to boom loud. Thanks in advance on any help given!!!

well you can tap into those wires for signal but will get maybe 6 watts of power, so your gonna have to add an amp if you dont want to run the chance of burnign your stock headunit up.

A small amplifier should be fairly cheap, the issue is going to be that the installation is going to take a bit of time. There had to have been an amplifier that powered the subwoofers before they were removed, can you use that?

I bought the subwoofers by theirselves so no amp. I will try to find one sometime soon. Thanks for the help.

Why just 6 watts? I have the mons sytm in my 07GT. Doesn't that amp carry more wattage than that to the6x9 subtht

The Monsoon amp has 270 watts of total power, whether that's peak or RMS your guess is as good as mine, probably peak though. Now that total power goes to 2 6x9 "subwoofers" , 2 3.5' drivers within the subwoofer, two midbass woofers , one in each front door, 2 tweeters, one in each front door and then the 4' center speaker located on the front dash. So if you do the easy math that's about 30 watts peak to each speaker, not a lot of power.
