I found out that The guy was driving from NC to NY and it died on I95, it was towed to the pep boys my friends works at he bought it for $200. Found out he ran the car out of oil and that's why it died. It looks like a JY engine will be between $800 and $1800.

Get it if you have an extra $3-4k laying around to make it into a decent car. Probably even more. Things add up extremely fast. But it could be fun if your into autocross.

LS is easy 20 grand.

Not worth it.

Where are you pulling that number from? I had a guy who was looking at my TSI who had a LS6 Miata with less than $6000 in the whole car, and it was mated to the LS6's 6 speed.

One of the vendors sells a "complete kit" for twenty iirc.

Cost depends on fab skill level.

Anyone who spends 20k on a "kit" is retarded, especially when an engine and trans can be sourced for less than 20% of that cost.

I say get it. It doesn't need much to be a really fun car. A junkyard motor and a suspension overhaul could be done for around $1500 depending on how much you can do yourself. That'd satisfy a lot of people for a simple DD

For 1800. You could pick up a DD that's already in full operating condition.

Define operating. In my area there is no way 1800 would get you any sort of decent car, if there was, my GP would be long gone. $300 for a car the pretty much needs an engine, I'd take it.

Check out pb4w.com it's by Morries auto... I bet there are similar things in all states. But there are like 20 cars for less than 1800. My dad bought his Galant from there, no rust, 1400 and some tune up, spark plugs etc. he's had the car for 2 years now. With over 200k on the odometer. It's where I got my prix for 1800.. But after tax and title fees I ended hittin that 2k mark
