Common Sense

Its really not to common anymore. So yesterday I had dinner with my family at Olive Garden. My mom orders an appetizer and part of it was Stuffed Mushrooms. So the appetizer comes out and my mom immediately goes to grab the dish. And of course burns her finger really bad. Now if you know restaurants or cooking you know they cook the mushrooms in that dish and just set it on another dish to bring it out(a lot of people know that, but that's not general common knowledge so ok) So of course her finger blisters immediately and after dinner she asks for a manager and complains. But this is what gets me, her complaint was that the waitress didn't tell her it was hot. Now I understand they probably should say that. But common sense says that a dish just brought out of the kitchen to your table is gonna be hot!!

Now I've done stupid things and burned myself like when I touched my brake rotor right after driving the car. Now I know it was stupid and common sense would know its hot after driving the car but I didn't complain to the brake company cause there's no warning label about being hot, I did something stupid and now have to deal with the pain, but I'm not gonna complain to anyone.

And to top it off the manager had to make an incident report about it just in case my mom goes to the hospital. The manager told my mom that have whichever the company is for insurance and she immediately just starts complaining about how horrible that insurance company is and she wouldn't deal with them. So I asked her if she was gonna go to the Hospital and she said no. So then I tell her what does it matter then. And of course I'm the bad person for not seeing it her way.

But in the end they took her meal off the check and gave her a $75 gift card to come back.

I love my mom but shes so stubborn in her ways of thinking any way but her way is wrong.

Cliff Note:
Mom burned finger on hot dish right from the kitchen
Complains cause she wasn't warned it was hot.

I'm right there with you. However you may wanna be nice to your poor wounded momma.... cause she's likely the main supplier of food to the table.

BTW..don't burn your finger when she serves you something hot.

I vote you go in there and shoot the place up.

But really, most people don't have any common sense anymore...it's kind of scary.

Haha I asked my mom is she wanted to sue, just like the lady at McD's cause the coffee cup didn't say hot on it. My uncle died laughing but my mom just told me to shut up.

I am nice to my mom, but I haven't lived with her in a couple years so no she doesn't supply my food.

warnings are because people are sue happy, not becaue they get hurt (specifically).

common sense hasn't been natural to anyone, pretty much ever.

The waitress should have told her the plate was hot? I thought YOU were the kid, and SHE was the parent. Should have asked her why she wants to be treated like a child?

How come stuff like this never happens when I'm around so I can have a field day with the people that practice this douchebaggery??

They can name you in the suit under pain and suffering.

So far, I've lucked out in that department, despite a specific threat to send someone to the ER if he didn't clean up the mess he made in a grocery store in the process of getting the product he wanted.

I busted my lip screwing around with a shopping cart at wal-mart. First statement out of everyones mouth was that I should sue. Why should I sue them for me being a dumba$$? I'd love to smack some people. Everyone thinks they are "entitled" to things now-a-days. Why earn something when you can just take it?

At least you are smart enough not to follow in your mothers footsteps. She should be ashamed of her behavior, and sure as hell shouldn't have gotten the gift card. Tell her if she doesn't give it to a local charity/food bank you'll have no respect for her as a parent... curious to see what she does with the card she clearly "earned".
