• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Decided on my first radar detector :)

I was driving a car wtih dealer plates. Dealer didn't give me any paperwork, therefore when the cop asked for registration and proof of insurance I didn't have any. He inflated the ticket, and let me drive away. Judge handed those to me as "how could you have known", by the time we talked about the speeding part, he was in a good mood.

Ha very lucky! both of mine have been let down a ton. First was 15 over on the snow... went to defective equipment. Second was 15 over in construction.. Went to 5 over none construction (so no points!) bonus

i used to want a radar detector but i dont think you can trust them cuz if there is a cop coming from the other lane sometimes they keep their radar off until they see you

Old thread, but...
They're not a for sure thing, of course there's ways for the cops to attempt to get around them.

The cop turning it on and off while driving is very doubtful, they do sometimes do that when they are stationary though.
My escort 9500ix can pick up radar from well over a mile away though, so it would trigger when he was shooting at the cars well in front of me.

When you have a radar detector, you learn to work WITH it, not try to have it solely work for you. You start to learn its capabilities, and what different things mean. If my detector continuously goes off for 5 minutes I know theres a cop driving in the same direction as me, either behind or in front.
If it pulses on and off, likely a cop is doing something like what you described.

I have a right foot that is controlled by my brain...works really well. It'll do what every I want it to. You should try it.

Yep....

Instant on is deadly man.

I wouldn't worry about the super short beep -- quick trigger is just to get an initial reading. The only admissible reading comes from a 5-6 second instant on reading. QT readings are not admissible.
