• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

I'm pretty confident my car is totalled...

Sounds like more effort than its worth to fix. Sucks man. If it is totaled what would you end up getting?

This whole thing has been pretty depressing but if I have to replace it... which I will... and I struggle to think about...

I'm interested really in only two options... going backwards... doing a mid to late 60's Pontiac. An early Grand Prix, may be 63 or a 67, 68 firebird. If I can find it possibly a mid 60's Lemans or Tempest (I'd like a GTO but $$$, I'm really looking for a daily driver)

Other option and the most likely, go out and find yet another 97 - 02.

A few qualifications... GTP, Coupe (I am considering 4dr), Leather (pref. black), Sliding sunroof.

The GP with the full sliding sunroof is a spectacular car to drive on the open road on sunny days. I don't care too much about paint but I'd prefer anything but red.

I'm in the market. Keep your eyes open, I'd really appreciate as much help in the search as possible. Message me or email me at [email protected] - Thanks

Anyway, 9 years with no accidents or tickets. I always knew that if I cracked it up, it would be bad.

Now why would you think the light was green?
Is it a yield on left turn or a green left arrow?

Good question. Two left turn lanes, Two through lanes. The lights for the turn lanes are not paired with the through lanes. They are actually off set in different depths and canted at different angles and suspended from two different poles stretched across the road from opposite sides. Apparently (and I use that word intentionally) the through lanes were green and when I looked up at the light, I tracked the light pole from the right side of the road and across. I saw green and went... simple mistake with some pretty complex consequences... This feeling is worse than peeing your pants in grade school... i think. Lesson, tripple check lights and traffic before proceeding.

I think I mentioned this earlier but 9 years since I got my license and no accidents or tickets. I always knew if I got into a crack up it would be very bad... theory proven.

If there were no injuries then it wasn't "bad". Imagine if you had a friend in the passenger seat and the opposing car struck the door. That would be bad. Just be thankful no one was injured. Cars are replaceable.

True... Every day since it happened I've started to realize that more and more. I'm sad to say good bye to the old girl but it's a great opportunity to go find another one. I have to say, I just love the amount of car you get the 97-03 GP's. Everyone I talk to thinks that car is in the $10k + value range. So, I'm in the market and willing to travel to pick up a good one. I think I'd prefer trying to snag one from someone on this forum when it's available. Budget of about $5500'sh. People on this site seem to care and I think it's the best place to look for a replacement. If anyone see's anything popping up, I'd super appreciate a heads up. I'll be looking too.

- Thanks all. You've been a help. - Cheers

I don't think the insurance company is going to give you any more than around $4,000 bucks for the car. Seeing how you can buy one for 3-5k in great shape with lower miles.

I know they won't but I've put aside some money in the event something catastrophic happen to the car anyway... I didn't think I would use it to buy a different one. I always assumed I'd blow the the motor up or kill the transmission or something. I've seen some pretty amazing GP's on this site for sale in the 4.5k-6k mark... I think 6k is pushing it but I could swing around 5k.
