Need a Case relearn?

Hi Guys,

I just installed my new overkilled pcm and I am wondering if i need a case re learn.

The thing is, my engine light was on before the install and is still on so I can't tell if I need a case re learn done. I had the check engine light looked at by the dealer years ago i forgot what it was something stupid like the exhaust sensor not worth fixing they said.

The car started and runs nice. At first it said wouldn't start due to security..but the second turn it worked great and hasn't given me that warning again after many times.

Now I also would like to know if the tune works before you get a case relearn or do you need a relearn to activate the tune or to make it run better or something???

Sorry if i seem like a noob when it comes to tuning I have no experience with this that is why i got a pre tuned pcm

Thanks!

If the car starts with the new pcm then you got nothing to worry about. Just enjoy it :-)

If the car starts then you can drive it to a local autozone get the codes pulled from the computer and then post those codes in the forum and then we can help you more.

If you got an auto parts store near you then a regular obd2 scanner should cost around $60. Or if you have an android phone you can get a blue tooth obd2 adapter and the Torque app and read the codes and real time data. The app and blue tooth adapter will cost around $50 if I remember correctly. I'll post links to the stuff you could buy.

My buddy has an ob2 I am going to get it scanned to see what code I have then will get back to u guys..is there anyway the PCM can be reflashed by scanning or resetting an engine light code? I don't want to lose my overkill tune

Most code scanners will erase historic and active DTC's.

It will not in any way effect your overkill performance tune. It will just read the codes that are there.

so if i go to reset an engine code it should not affect the overkill tune?

Correct, it will not effect the tune. Because a scanner can only read the pcm, it can't write to the pcm like tuning software can. Therefore there's no need to worry :-)
