Hey all,

In the efforts of saving a couple bucks, we decided to get rid of a car payment and get an older, less expensive vehicle. Had a 2008 civic, and still owe $$ on it.

Picked up a 2000 GP GT for $3200. Its got 109000km on the clock, and looks to be in very good condition and meticulously maintained.

Owner mentioned the intake gaskets had been done already. Its still running Dexcool.

Any pointers or areas to watch out for?

Yeah would have loved a GTP, but the ones I looked at were pretty beat on, leaking or just generally appeared to be abused. This carhas barely seen the outside of the garage, they only drove 75k kms in 10 years. Also, the avg fuel economy was 11.3 l/100km. To me this indicates it was city driven, but not with a heavy foot. Story seemed to fit, the gent is a retired fellow that works at the local golf course cutting grass so that he can go golfing for free. Very laid back, but also meticulous on the maintenance. Was aware of the issues these cars have and showed me what he'd done to take care of these issues.

Picking the car up tonight, so I'll try to post pics today or tomorrow.

Joshmoshh, gtfo threads where you dont even contribute, but just QQ.

And disallow, can't wait to see pictures. Since the Lower Intake Manifold gasket has been replaced, that's one headache avoided. It would be a good idea to switch to a green antifreeze, as Dexcool is known to sludge, cause blockage issues, plus it's cheap!

Since you said the owner was meticulous with maintenance, you're probably good to go and just enjoy the car.

It's supposed to be a super-awesome coolant that can last 100k miles +, but that is often not the case. It also likes to eat gaskets.

Yep that's definitely on the schedule. Any opinion on the best/most cost effective green stuff? I don't use prestone usually, but that's because it doesn't like my hondas.

Ok... sorry its taken so long. Pics as promised:
