In my 97 3.8 i just had sway bars and all the links replaced and i still have a horrible rattling in back of car.. I read in one post that this sounds like a strut mount.. it has to be since sway bars are in great shape. If they are bad -anyone suggest i just replace all four or do them as they go?? :th_sick2::th_angry2:

Could be the rims.

Replace all the strut mounts and possibly the struts altogether.

I would do them in pairs if your milage isn't too high. wouldn't make sense to spend a bucket load of money on a high milage car and have the transmission go the next week.

struts really are not to expensive and in theory your suppose to replace them every 60,000 miles. it could also be your hub bearings maybe?

there are 160,000 miles with a totally re-done engine upper lower intakes replaced, and both sway bars, links, tie rods all replaced suspension.. minus the struts.. havn't touched those

hub bearings.. havn't heard that one yet.. all i know is basically everything was stock on this car and i turned it into my little project,, and it's backfiring on me .. lol, i fix one thiong and somethin else goes.. it'l be a new car soon :) thanks for the reply!

yeah the rims are alot heavier.. matter of fact.. that is probably why everything is going all of a sudden.. yeah but they do look nice,.. lol, thanks for the help!!

That's the tale of the Grand Prix.

Always leave one thing broken (like a cupholder or a glovebox) and nothing else will go wrong. Try to fix everything and it's like playing whack a mole.
