HELP flashing check engine light/ poor acceleration

Timing

New member
I was just driving down the road after getting a car wash and all of a sudden my 2000 gtps idle changed and it sounded like it was running on less pistons and the service engine light started blinking. My Acceleration is poor but i can still get it up to speed. Im thinking skipped timing or plugs or something idk please any input would be great this is my daily driver and i need to get to work tomarrow.

btw i just changed my plugs and wires about a month or two ago also changed fuel filter and fuel pump a few weeks ago

Well the scan would help tremendously.
Otherwise you can check to see if any wires are melted, check all wire connections and also check your coil packs for corrosion.

ok well can this be caused by anything major like intake manifold gasket or something huge that will cost me a fortune

Seems unlikely but you never know until
It's scanned and you check the codes. I wouldnt worry about it too much. Rest easy, check it in the am and go from
There.

Right..let's skip all the easy things and go right for new engine. Since you're the one footing the bill...it sounds good.

Technically, it means "Catalyst damanging condition" Which..is usually caused by a misfire.
well i know my cat was going i could hear it while driving real shaky is it a possiblity its just clogged, i pulled all the wires off the coils and they all spark and the misfire im getting is 305

You didn't feel it was relevant to share that information to begin with? Seems like the problem with this car exists between the seat and the steering wheel.

Fix the known issues and then see what you have left.

hey bill no need to be rude ive put 1500 worth of parts in the car in the last 3 months, and ya the cat was next on my list just ran out of money. Im not coming here for a lecture im coming here for probable answers on what could cause a misfire and im surprised usually you give the best answers bill and i was hoping you would come into this post and help me out but know youve shown me a different side of you, changed my mind. Anyway no drama i just was technical answers thanks

you cant expect good help off the internet with out giving full details of what has been done already.

a list of whats been done helps a lot. holding on to 1/2 the info wont help any one help you.

and i'd feel safe to say when all info is given, bills one of the best net diagnosis around.

now carry on fellas :th_winking:

Well, since P0305 is a code for misfire on Cyl #5, start there. Check the wires for obvious damage. Since this happened after getting a car wash, is it possible that you got some water somewhere it shouldn't have? If the wire looks good then try swapping it with a good wire and see if the miss follows.
