1997 GTP Supercharge Issue....

I just bought this car, has 210,000miles on it, I was in the driveway, put it into reverse and the car stalled. Started back up, put it into Drive, and it stalled again. I have never had this happen on any of my vehicles and the only thing I could think of was the supercharger is going bad...I'm not mechanic, so any help is appreciated....

Would that cause the car to stall when shifting from Drive to Reverse and vice versa though? The power is still amazing. No hesitation when hard accelerating. The only is issue is shifting from drive to reverse/reverse to drive.

Oh so it only happens when going from one gear to the other.. I misread that.. I am sorry... No a cat would not cause that....

Alright...So what would? haha, I'm at a loss of suggestions. I checked everything over and whatnot before I bought the vehicle and I even had a mechanic check it out, no codes, no issues. This stalling thing started when I went out to go run some errands this morning.

Pretty much. I haven't had a chance to even get on the accelerator before it dies. What happened a little bit ago was: I started it up, put it in reverse, died, throw it in neutral, started it back up, then back to reverse, backed the car up, shifted into drive, died, back into neutral, started up, then went driving down the road. Pull up to the driveway, died. Started up, parked it.

Check the line coming off the EVAP sensor. And also double check all the vacuum lines to make sure they are properly routed.

When the car is on and in P what is the RPM? It should be between 600 and 800. When you put the AC on the RPM should be around 900. This a good way to see if the IAC is at least doing something.

I agree with inspecting for vacuum leaks.
With the car idling steady, spray some carb cleaner or throttle body cleaner around vacuum lines/connections.
If then RPMs rise, then you've found your leak.

na he told me it only happens when going from D to R or R to D... Under load it is fine...

You realize engaging any gear is putting load on the engine...

He said it drives fine even under hard driving.. He told me just going from one to the other...
