Auto Dimming HID lights

So I have a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix GT that has auto dimming lights so that during the day time they stay on but at a dimmed setting. When nights falls the interior nights lights come on and the headlights become brighter. I was thinking about putting some HIDs in the headlights. Will the HIDs auto dim and auto brighten like the regular lights?

Really? I really like that feature but if its going to ruin the HIDs then I guess I will pull the fuse. I also plan on getting some Halos to go with them.

Because the bulbs run on lower power during the day in a short time it will fry the ballast because its meant to always run at full power.

So when i got my hid's in my 00 gtp, i pulled the DRL fuse and never looked back.

Okay thank you. I think I might actually put in some Spyder CCFL Projector headlights since I hear good things about CCFL.

Just pull the connector from the heatsink behind the little access panel on the drivers side dash. That will disable the DRL's but keep your autolights.

The DRL's will ruin the hids.

You will have to pull the DRL fuse and turn your lights on by hand when it becomes dark.

True, but its an easy fix. When you open the drivers side door you'll see a plastic panel. Pull off the little plastic door and you will see a heat sink with a wire plugged into it. Unplug the wire by pushing down the plastic clip with a flat screw driver. That's your DRL module, lights will still automatically come on at night ;-)

or just run a relay kit like you're supposed to

then the argument will become how are the bulbs getting low power if it pulls straight from the battery

THATS A DAM GOOD POINT!!!!... I never really thought about that.... But that wont help with the keyless entry flash problem though will it????

Does anyone know where the DRL's plug is located on a 04 GP GT. I have looked behind the panel on the drivers side and I have 3 different plug, so if that is the correct location which plug do I need to unplug? ImageUploadedByTapatalk1337096567.968548.jpg

Didn't want to cut any wires. Was hoping someone knew of a plug or fuse to pull. My relay harness has gone bad and I have a new one on the way but in the mean time I was hoping to unplug something that I would be able to telling when the new harness came in.
