General price range for headers installation?

Getting headers soon and leaning towards the good ole "home driveway install" but was wondering what would a shop typically charge to install? I called one and they said 475. :( cheese and rice (Jesus Christ lol) is it that much labor involved? Also I need my cat changed and the same shop that did my mufflers for 225 wants to charge me 375 for a cat install. Really? Wtf is wrong with mechanics? I mean isnt a cat Install a simple cut and weld?!
Are all mechanics crooks!?!?

Did mine with a member here in 13 hours. But I have a 97 so the big problem was the trans dip and the trans cooling lines

I charge guys about $350 to do it. I follow the instructions I've posted as "the easy way" and it takes about 6-7 hours to do a good job. On the cat, buy a 3" cat and clamp it in like the rest of the exhaust.

If you put on Speed Daddy's and get FrozenBoost clamps, get an extra one or two of the 3" and you can easily clamp a cat in place, instead of the straight pipe they send. I've done it tons of times.

If you look at those instructions, you'll see I never mention the dipstick tube. That only comes into play on W body or TOG headers. Otherwise they all fit fine with the stock tube on a W body car.

Tools you'd need.
Jack
Jackstands
2x4 or 4x4 about 18 inches to 3 feet long
13mm socket
10mm socket
15mm socket
18mm socket
Ratchet
Hammer
Sharpie marker

Onlly places that fight are the firewall where the O2 sensor would hit. So you move it with your hammer. The rear manifold to DP bolts, but they dont' matter, because you could wiggle them out the bottom with the subframe down a little. The catback flange bolts. Those are easy to cut and replace though.

I'm going to continue to shop around for better prices to get the cat welded in or try the clamp in cat and I'll try my best to attempt the headers install. Thanks guys :)
