Cops who tailgate you...

I've had them tailgate me before it's annoying! Usually if they do I take the first side street I see just to see if they are going to follow me. I live close to the Massachusetts state border since I'm in NH. Once I'm in NH and over that border I'm out of there legal jurisdiction so they can suck it!! Haha I really don't care if they tailgate because once a Massachusetts cop tries to get you in NH or vice versa they have no legal jurisdiction and you can take them to court. But they usually just turn around and go back lol :-P

not saying this doesnt happen, but did you follow that 90 mph cop to see where he was going? then how do you know what he was doing. there are also light codes depending on where you are. with us it is code 0: normal routine patrolling, obey all traffic laws, no lights, not sirens. code 1: proceed quickly, making sure to clear all intersections, use lights and sirens when clearing. code 2: proceed with caution using lights, clear all intersections using sirens. code 3: proceed very quickly, use lights and sirens, clear all intersections.

i completely understand what you are saying about that stuff and get it.

these cops, i see them pull off to hide at under passes and center divides. just being road bullies. racing back to the good hide outs.

NJ state troopers in the north part of the state here don't really respond to local calls. most towns have their own force or share a police force.

all these troopers do is traffic stops, all day and night, for the most part.

back in the day if you drove around with your reverse lights on, it meant you wanted to race. today it seems to be if the sunroof is up in the rear i've heard.

worst chain reaction i ever saw in person was, well a cop in the center divide, a old guy who saw the cop and slammed on his brakes, and then got rear ended by the car behind him, really f ing hard.

Wrong! You can be followed into another jurisdiction and all the officer has to do is call ahead to the next jurisdiction/town..... As long as they have probable cause it can and will happen.

That's if you did something wrong, obviously ... herp derp. I'm talking about just randomly fallowing me just because they want to. That's why they always turn around at the border.

Also if a Massachusetts cop tries to give you a ticket in New Hampshire that ticket would be null and void. You would have to have a New Hampshire cop write the ticket.

actually, the joining states, cities, and counties have to have what is called a concurrent jurisdiction agreement. there are federal statutes that regulate more serious violations, and that negates the concurrent jurisdiction agreement.

They need to follow to get ur plates but they dont need to keep doin it.

And im suprised nobody has brought up the idea of the hid reverse light mod for tailgaters! :th_laugh-lol3:

I do have hid reverse. Had it in my old truck too

yeah they cant give you a ticket BUT they can pull you over and just wait for the cop of the right jursidiction to come... which would be even more of a hassle.
i see it happen all the time where i am. staties pull people over on the turnpike but they have to wait for the local town cops to come down and actually give them the tickets.

Yeah lets do this so the people behind you get into an accident and kill someone. Do you ever think they might be in a hurry ??? Maybe they've got kids in the car and they're sick, maybe a relative is in the hospital and they need to get there quickly...... Often times you think by brake checking someone or blinding them with damn lights is the answer when in reality it can cause a chain reaction that can change everyones life in a second or be deadly. Think before you act.

I ment it 100% as a joke. I dont really agree with the idea of blinding people to get them off ur tail. Its really quite a dangerous thing to do. Its just like when you cant see after someone takes a picture with a flash. I agree with you 100%. I was just tryin to lighten the atmosphere. :o

I have a question based on both of these issues. Back in Nevada I was a licensed DOT CDL instructor and examiner which meant I could approve or license a CDL holder or candidate from receiving or renewing thier CDL and I had something happen while I was in my personal vehicle that was prettyy unique.

I was driving my personal vehicle with the family in it, on I-80 near Reno Nv when a big truck came up behind me in a active construction zone that was down to one lane. I was about 2-3 mph above the limit but I really never speed and especially not in a CZ and it pi**ed the guy off BAD. It was a long CZ so I called 911 after a few minutes of his grill being so close it was scaring the kids and wife and me a little since an idiot like that is unpredictable on how big and idiot they really are. The 911 dispatcher asked me if I would like to file a complaint and I said yes so they dispatched the call and a State Trooper going the opposite direction saw the scenario and the folowing distance but because of the CZ and the solid barriers could not flip around to do anything. We traveled out of the CZ and into the next county where by then I had fallen back and got the DOT #s as well as a basic desription of the truck driver to the 911 operator before he blew on past but while doing so he kind of whipped his rig so the trailer would track into my lane making it look like he was going to come into my lane and hit us. The 911 operator asked me if I wanted to follow at a safe distance to where the truck would be pulled over and after what we had just been through I said yes. I never was asked to get out of the car by the trooper who made the stop but he came back and had me issue a civillian citation to whice he signed and attested to the issuance of but not the validity of.
I went to the guys hearing and it was sketchy until I identified myself and my qualifications and certifications and at that point the driver was given a suspension of his license and a pretty hefty set of fines. I was told had it not been for my attending the hearing and my certifications the guy would have most likely walked out with a warning and just court costs levied.

Long story short when running under a concurrent jurisdiction agreement and a citation being issued under it what weight is brought by the non jurisdictional dept more so than the common citizen being the one that witnessed the infraction/s in the first place? I have always been curious about that ever since that situation I described took place and found out it would be a waste of time and resources if the person that received the citation knew thier rights well enough to argue something like that.

Hope that makes sense.

last year in my my pick up truck, i was on 287, doing 65 in what i would call heavy traffic, every car was less than 1 car a part in all 3 lanes, then i get this girl up my ass beeping the horn and high beaming me,( she was loosing her fing mind, i could see her in my mirror lol) like if she got past me, where the F is she going? this crap went on for miles, after she tried to pass me a few times, and yeah i made sure she never made it past me, my girl called the cops, the trooper on duty was connected on the call, and we gave all the info on the car, and 10 minutes later here comes the trooper busting through traffic to find her.

her out of state plates made her easy to find too.

hopefully cops don't tailgate a vehicle with dark tinted rear windows because they can not see inside from behind

sarasotagtp, let me make sure i understand what your asking. if the cop is out of his jurisdiction how much weight does his citation hold in the court of the other jurisdiction. so if i am a cop in "a" county and i pull someone over in "b" county and give a ticket. then how much does my word mean in "b" court? it all depends on what the agreement says. law enforcement certification is certification now matter how you look at it. most states dont have individual county or city police academies. they have state academies that teach basic techniques and then its up to the department you work for to teach the local statutes and laws. so most courts will take your word as a law enforcment official.

just for the record that "once your over the border" crap don't stand, this aint the wild west lol if you committed a violation in county A, and cross into county B that cop is still going to follow you, trust me. that goes for town to town, and state to state.

and if you run that long, when they do catch you and they will, they are going to beat the living sh1t out of you, and you earned it for running, ask Rodney king.....

jersey had a cool rule, all troopers had to me a minimum height of 6'4", but then women want to be troopers and how many 6'4" women have you seen? so they had to drop it, but a very large force does still exists, and you dont want to piss these guys off at all.

F3 that is what I was asking pretty much. I just had thought what a waste if it wasn't that way. It would be a waste of multiple agency resources but glad to hear that is not usually the case. Thanks.

I've got cops that sit in the parking lot across the street with me all the time. Nice guys, and I feel safe at night. Ive even stopped by to chat them up a few times and now they wave at me when I pull out of my driveway. I don't have a problem with the patrolling, now, there's a small town on my way to work that runs radar and it's a speed trap. The people that get caught speeding through there are fools, if they would do 65, he'd just have to find something else to do.
