Hey guys my 98 gtp all the sudden started leaking coolant from the passenger side next to the oil pan just infront of the trans pan and was hoping you guys could tell me where this is coming from. its dripping from the panel that is clean in the pictures. its the one thats welded on but also has 2 bolts holding it in.

check your plastic elbow off the belt side of the manifold, if thats dry, take the belt off and see if the water pump pulley has side to side play, like grab the pulley with both hands one on each side and push and pull it towards the engine and away.

if its loose you found your leak. they leak from a weep hole on the bottom of the pully snout.

that clean part is the motor mount bucket, the coolant is running straight down into it and leaking from there.

the elbows fine and there isnt any play i the pulley but theres definaely some coolan under the pulley snout.... how would i go about fixing? new water pump?

Look up top where the coolant elbows are and see if you notice the same residue. You have 2 coolant elbows. One you can see, and one that is behind the alt. bracket. Either that or the LIM is leaking.

yup its a easy fix. remember to break the 4 bolts on the pulley loose first before you take the belt off. the 4 long bolts you need to clean them up some and slap some thread sealer on the treads, they go right into the block into a coolant passage. coolant will leak out when you remove these bolts. also make sure all the old gasket is removed or it will leak.

looks like this off.

and like this with a new one on.

all of the liquid is right under the bottom gasket surface. think i should just replace the water pump to be safe at 120k. any other matience i should hit while im there?

well you could check the belt while you have it off, flip it groves out bend it over a finger and see if its got cracks and chunks missing, if so replace it, tune ups are always a good idea if its been a while, oil change, oil filter. fuel filter, maintenance lists go on for days lol

oh i had to unbolt my power steering pump to get to one of the 4 large bolts, not sure if you will need to or not being a n/a motor.

you kinda see it dropped in the first pic.

oh ok then you will also need a t 55 to get the idler pulley off thats blocking the long bolts on the right side of the pump lol, i had to walk to the parts store to buy a new one, my old one was broke and would not catch at all.

thanks for the help guys im gonna jump in and get this fixed tomorrow, gotta stop driping on the street.
