DNA springs... yep i said it

because springs made in china like DNA's are going to be made to any manufacturers specs....

I would say that working in the racing spring manufacturing and sales for Hyperco and Matthew Warren spring for over 10 years would make me just a little knowledgeable. Considering that I talk to race teams and OE aftermarket upgrading companies such as Steeda, Strano Performance, Pfadt Race Engineering, Strange Engineering. AST Suspension, and so on so for on a daily basis, as well as working with our manufacturing side and engineering staff I would say I know just a little bit when it comes to springs. We have been making springs for Chrysler, Hummer, GM, and Harley among others for quite a while. We have made performance aftermarket springs for almost any application(except of course W-body's, go figure). If you have ever seen a dark blue spring on a car, it has most likely passed through my hands at some point. As far as the DNA springs, I am not saying they are the best choice out there, just that they are at least OE quality and for the price "OK". I would much rather have a set of springs that has been engineered AND vehicle tested to get the best setup and balance of the car, not just made a % stiffer and shorter than stock, like the Eibachs and probably DNA also. I understand you questioning me, since I am not crazy active on the forums, but when it comes to springs, I do kind of know what I am talking about. BTW if anybody wants to send me a front and rear spring from a DNA kit I will personally take a good look at it and run it through the paces to see exactly how good it is or isn't. I will not put them in my own car, just rate, scale test, dyno, and inspect them. This isn't a ploy to get free springs either......just 1 front and 1 rear and I will tell you a lot more about the springs

i got $10 on this. a few more people and we'll paypal you money so you can buy a set and look them over. i am more interested in the actual findings than running them on a car. one of the people who puts in money can run them.

I would love to look at them........if for nothing else to base a new spring design and maybe see about making a "new" kit. I have been seriously considering making a batch of 25-30 kits, with a MUCH stiffer spring rate than stock, but without a huge drop, maybe 1.2-2.0 inches". Hard to do though without having a blueprint or a "new" stock style spring for the basic dimensions I need. My stock springs were absolute junk when I took them off, and I am not looking to make any money of this deal, just maybe sell them for about $200 a kit(or less depending on what it costs me). The difference is that I would personally test them on my car(with bilstein hd struts) to get the balance right, and the would be a motorsports quality spring that would last virtually forever.

This is becoming very interesting. Best would be to send him all 4 DNA's and get the side to side variance. Do you have access to a spring endurance tester of sorts as well? Better yet would be to also send a well used set of DNA's.

Yeah, we have a cycle tester. I could also run them on my car for a week or so and re-evaluate them. It would be interesting to see how much two of the same spring would vary also. If I was to design and make a new kit, I was thinking heavy rate, maybe 400# front and 275# rear, with about a 1.25" front drop, and 1.75" rear drop. That is just an initial idea. I have gotten my rear coilovers done, but kept the struts so that I can also put a stock style spring, so I can still test the kit myself. I have gotten all the parts for the front, just haven't gotten around to doing it yet.

I would put some money down on this as well as your higher spring rate springs.

Keep in mind bilsteins raise 97-03's half an inch or so.

Im at stock ride height with vogtlands and hd's.

thanks for the info.....no wonder my basic math was wrong on what coil over i needed......always sat too high, got it licked though

test the dna's everyones hatin on then test some of the "big" name springs to be fair and throw out all the bias BS!
I'd be willing to bet the outcome would be much better!

Better yet send in some ssc's and dna's so you actually have something to compare to...since everyone seems to swear by them

Get somebody to send me a front and rear of each brand, I can do the same for all of them......I will test them and let everyone know the results. I have no problem at all with comparing so everyone know exactly what they really are. I would even be willing to donate a day's worth of my own time to do it. That way I can design a kit and everyone will know how to compare it to other springs.

Ship to hyperco directly?

I have vogtlands I can spare for a while.

Yeah why do people even care...im sure no one ever tested ssc's when people first started using them...why? because they are $200 and everyone assumes they are made state side with tons of R&d...most the people that are being negative already have name brand springs or don't even drive a wbody

They're a Canadian company....

if you make a batch, im down to buy it. especially if the drop would be a just a tid bit lower (as in ~0.5in lower) than ssc's, which imho are perfect height for daily driving.

ps. you should make a thread about that to see the responses.

I am kind of curious about trying something. We make a kit for the new Camaro for Steeda, and spec-wise, it looks almost the exact same as our springs, just shorter. I may have to do some research into whether or not they will work, maybe throw a set on my car. The vehicle weights are almost identical, and I know the Camaro's are sprung relativily heavy.

Hmm I ordered some DNA springs last week and they are arriving today. Contemplating on sending them up for testing so we'll all know once and for all, good or bad.

Well, the camaro springs are out......they are rated 225# front and 417# rear. would drop the front about 2.25" and the rear .4", not to mention throw the balance WAY out of whack. Just let me know if you guys are sending springs to me, so I can watch for them.
