2002 gtp trans probs

gtpinsc

resident snitch
i have a 02 gtp with 90000 miles in which trans is acting up.does this intermittently... at times when starting from stop.engine rpms will rev up and trans will jerk into gear.it also acts really sluggish at times when in any gear at crusing speed.sometimes at a speedbump if i come to complete stop at it and give it gas it does not wanna roll over it.it also does this at high speeds if i kick in overdrive it will hesitate a lil then jerk into gear.fluid is not burnt or discolored.it does not do this all time. someone please help... all the trans shops i take it to cant give me a detailed explanation this prob has even caused a cv shaft to shear completely in half

Below is a link to an info page on my website which describes your take off problem. Make 100% sure your fluid level is to the full mark when the car is warmed up and engine running with shifter in park. It is a fairly common problem and is going to require taking apart the trans to repair.

Its pretty unlikely that an aftermarket pcm is causing your problems. The pcm really has minimal effect on takeoff other than commanded line pressure but that is pretty much a fixed setting and not something that pcm tuners will or can change. You could always try another pcm if in doubt but I doubt it will cure your problems, and if for some reason it does it will only be short term as it learns to your trans and pressures are adapted to it.

thanks again...im just trying to beat this problem myself...we all know how much trans shops cost!

Re: 2002 gtp trans probs update

ok i finally took my car to a trans shop.dropped pan...no metal in pan.. fluid a lil discolored...and a little bit of carbon sludge.scanned and found 1811 code maximum adapt and long shift...of course the next thing they wanted to do was drop tranny and charge their outrageous shop fee.if anyone has ever had this prob can u plz let me know what to expect when i do get the money up to get trans inspected.could this be a bad pcs?

That code is very common with the 4t65e. It could be the PCS sensor, or the trans needs to be refreshed depending on your mileage. You might want to consider saving up and buying a tranny from
Transmissions

Most shops will charge in excess of $500 for that sensor+install. My thoughts are to just save up and get a refreshed trans which should last you a good while. If you just replace the sensor, you might be fine for another month and that code could pop up again and then that could indicate your frictions are worn.
