Motor Oil Leak!

I never got your email, and did send you a PM that day, but didn't hear anything back from you till today, and I have replied to your PM.

4 bolts to remove yes.

There is a spring and a "piston" behind the elbow so take care when you remove it to not loose any parts, and take note how they are installed.

Clean the mating surfaces well, being careful to remove all the old gasket material off the front cover, careful its aluminum, so don't get too rough with it cause you can gouge it.

ok sounds good.
ill check my Pm in a min.
and ayt by 2moro i can have it off. didnt find how to remove the oil filter so tomorrow.

cool thanks.

now only if my cousin hurried up with the oil filter remover whatever.

i have some extra sand paper, can i use that to take off the gasket?

you dont want anyting to find it's way into the engine or oil filter thats not suppose to be there. Especially grits of sand

SO whats a good way to remove the old gasket, and get it ready for a new gasket?

I just use a good, sharp, new razor blade. But you have to be very, very careful. The razor blade will cut into the aluminum. You need to only scrape off the gasket and not gouge the aluminum.

^What he said is the way to go.

To clean/degrease, I would use some lacquer thinner on both mating surfaces to be sure its 100% oil free to insure a good seal with the new gasket.

Your elbow was mailed out Saturday the 16th. You should have it in a few days.

Personally, it doesn't really matter. You can run the crappiest of oil as long as you are not running your car hard, and change it often. If you run your car hard, or like to go for extended time between changing your oil, then you can run a higher grade oil.

Personally, I run Valvoline 5W30, AC Delco PF52 oil filter (both from Wal-mart) and change my oil every 3k miles.

But again, all depends on application and preference.
