• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

"Lil Alky", the epic build thread

Ported the runners on my LIM today. I'll post pictures soon.

Dropping off bearings at Button tomarrow and my supercharger is going to Stiege's Tuesday to start on the transformation.

Awesome, I'm really excited to see how this snite bite mod for an M90 turns out. What does he need, I assume just the snout? Or will he need the "backing" of the rotors as well?

And the positives to this are pretty much...

Overdriving the S/C rotors to spin faster
Having a bigger pulley on the car but actually spinning at the rate of a much smaller pulley rotor wise (good for sandbagging lol)
Less heat soak in the snout/blower perhaps?
DAT WHINE

Honestly one could just drop a certain pulley size to get the power this is providing (Ex: a 3.8 pulley car with this might make the same as a 3.3 car) so power wise it may not be worth it but the sound, the gearing advantage, the possiblity of less heat and being a sneaky troll at car meets and race tracks IMHO sound like it'll be worth it.

Ok I REALLY just want the sound, the other benifits are bonuses. Thank you for taking the time on making us updates alky and when you get everything squared away please let us know, I'm sure a decent amount of people will be interested doing this if it pans out.

He needs at least the whole rotor pack as the gears press on the rotors. For the Venom Cooler they just need the snout or front drive assy.

Wotgtp you are spot on w/your analysis of how and why it works. Yes you can just drop pulleys, but the gear whine is music to my ears.

50% increase in boost so stock we are at 9 lbs? That would put me at 13.5 psi w/stock pulley I believe w/the big stock 3.8 on there.

smaller pulleys also create belt slip situations, so it's good to have a solution that lets you use pulleys that will have a little wrap to them yet.

Oh ok, good to know about the rotors, heh I might want to get drilled ones while he might have them. 50% boost increase? That's insane, and going on that amount of bost that's almost 3.2ish pulley boost. Imagine if you just did headers, cam, ported blower and LIM with a tune and left the stock press on pulley. My god, the car would almost look stock save for the headers. 0.o

Ahhh yes that too. BRB getting tax returns to do this and everything else.

Ok, how bout the XP cam?

will it work with a new stock timing chain? Are aftermarket pushrods needed?

Definitely going with big valves on the ported heads and I'm thinking 15 psi boost with a 3.6 pulley on the SB blower and E85.

Better flow under the curve means more mid range powwa. Not a race car, I have one of those. This is to be a DD for the wife eventually. I want around 300 fwhp and good manners and DD reliability. I have a bad habit of going overboard with projects (GTO was gonna be a frame off resto lol) and I really enjoy driving the car. After the engines back in we'll do some mild suspension mods and maybe a paint job.

I'm thinking Orange.........

Then you sir want closer to stock valves say one size bigger from Si if thats who you were going with or ZZP LSx valves and a VS cam.

Say it again?

Ported L32 heads and an S1X or XP?

On 105's.

With a 900rpm idle and a new stock timing chain dampner on a 3.2"~ pulley? On pump junko 91...I'm sure if you corn feed it or with ported heads and bigger injectors you might be able to get away with smaller. The Thrasher/Ported heads combo allowed a .2-.3" drop over my XP setup with basically the same AFR and WOT timing...no methanol injection or intercooler either.

Got the short block rotator assembled last weekend with the help of stl_gtp (Thanks!). Recieved my XP cam and related hardware yesterday (got a great deal from another board member here!) so now I've got a double roller chain and heavy duty pushrods to go with the cam, and now I'm waiting on the heads from Stiege. Not running the SI valves apparently he's going custom valves (:th_winking:) which he had to order :th_lipssealed1:. Prolly finish the shortblock this weekend and then all I need will be those heads. He said like two more weeks so we'll see.

I was referring to the mention of mild, more daily driver orientation of the build and the unique things you're doing in spite of that.

Nothing at all about the rate of updates, I entirely understand the nature of projects like this as well as the busy lives people lead these days.

Whoops, my bad, sorry Matt.

I'm plenty excited about the build, that's for sure and I really appreciate your input and the input of the others on this site. It's the only GP site I really go to because it seems like a great group who are willing to help others out and not bash.

Sorry, I've been so busy with work but I will post an update soon. Next time I get over to Stiege's I'll try and shoot some exclusive photo's. I've settled on a 3.6 pulley with my Snakebite which should get me around 15 lbs (prolly less with the head porting and lim porting) but that should be close. Should be about the max eficiancy of the eaton without overspinning it. Still waiting on valves for the heads at this point that's all that is holding me up but it should be pretty soon.
