Can I use a newer style belt tensioner on my '97 (for a bigger alt!!)

I was wondering if i could use a belt tensioner off of a '00 Grand Prix, that has the "up and down" alternator bolts instead of the '97 style belt tensioner?

I need a bigger alternator and found a bracket that will allow me to use an AD244 if I had the "up and down" alternator mounting bolt pattern.

No idea on your answer... if nobody here knows, ask Mechman. He carries an HO alt for our vehicles (270 amp), and I'm almost positive that it's a conversion. Perhaps he will be able to help.
 
Yes you can. Pick up at set of cooalnt elbows and if you can..also get the newer style bracket to support it in the back.

I'm going to try a newer style belt tensioner, anybody got one? If not, I'll get it from rockauto.com and if it doesn't work, I'll send it back, lol
