• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

UPDATE Finally installed Spectre filter

Got a pcv coupler and a pipe and hooked them together to fit the MAF and the pipe thing came with a small third hole and a little u bend pipe to connect the stupid hose for the stupid cali emissions and connected the other side to the filter. Now the filter touches a little part of the roof and is at the back behind the headlight that has a hole there. We used zip tie to hold it still and up on the bar there and zip tied the pcm down too. It now makes a rumble noise now that sounds cool like a muscle car sound, is that good and how does it make that?

The zip tie there that is clamping the maf to the pipe there is gone and we put acutal clamps there since it came off when we moved it a little when we came back from driving. So now it should be stuck on good (we use the same clamp thats clamping the filter there the silver one).

nice look.. good job man.. how does it sound now when you hit wot.... since theres no whine i know its a nice roar

Thanks bro, Ya at first when we rev it its loud, but when we went on the road and put in about half throttle dang that thing make a loud rumble kinda noise. Hey is that noise good, it sounds kinda like a muscle car and what causes that sound now? ill take a pic of it with the clamps on there and post it later

i wish i could explain what made da sound.. we put a spectre on my brothers 3.1 buick century and it made a good roar out of it... i wish i knew

Ya same here, hey i forgot to ask a most important question on my other thread, is this thing safe? lol i think it is and ya it gives a great roar and its from the engine and not from the muffler like with those rice rockets.

Nice, i did the same to mine but i zip tied the pcm to the base of where the box used to be. It feels like and sounds like the engine has new life again. if only i found this forum years ago my bro and would have done this long time ago. This forum is AWESOME:D

Everyone i guess, lol ya it did for me too. I would have spent $300+ for the K&N CAI or would have ever got anything at all. now that the spectre intake is down later we will work on putting split fogs replacing the big turn signals. For now that intake is SICK, and great first engine mod.

The stock intake is designed to muffle all intake and upper motor noise.

So with you removing the air box and just sticking a cone on there, the sucking sound as well as motor noise can now be heard.

Wow so in a way the box was like strangling the car and keep it like on mute, and now it can breath better and roar all it wants. Thanks for clearing that up bro.

Anyone know if it is ok where it is or should we try to make a heat deflector?

EDIT: the rumble/roaring/loud noise, is good?

Some one said that there could be a code showing up because of a sensor because our car is a 07, and that we should unplug the neg or pos of the battery for like 10 mins to reset it. are we suppose to do that? the check engine light has been on for a while now for some stupid secondary air flow detected is incorrect flow or something. do we have to do anything or is it ok?

lol, ya ok it seems fine, good cool sound too. ill see later on what are some good mods to do my self if i find any on this site. any suggestions?

Install looks great considering you have to stick that other pipe from the side for emissions, i would unplug your battery for 10 minutes so your pcm can re read everything if its being that picky and threw a engine light.
My cold air setup, gotta love impala'ss for being able to stick the filter under the headlight and into the bumper.

Easy mods: flip your front motor mounts
get hv3 insert from http://shop.zzperformance.com/store/p/93-HV3-High-Velocity-Intake-Insert.aspx
get a tuned pcm from http://www.getoverkilled.ca/
install them at the same time cause hv3 isnt much good without a tune.

Motor mounts...eh. To each their own, and I will not begin to debate this.
HV3: If you're looking to stay N/A, definitely. You WILL set a lean code with your CAI AND HV3. You WILL need to tune for it. Even more so if you decide to do the d/p and h/f cat. A tune is REQUIRED for a new cam and valvetrain.
How you tune or get a tuned PCM is on you, but I'd rather know that the tune is for MY car and will work..FOR MY CAR. Yeah, it's a pain the ass, yeah it's been expensive, but yeah I've REALLY enjoyed the other side of wrenching on my car.
