thought I should already know this by now... zzp pulley question

Eversince I started dropping pulley sizes with the ZZP MPS, I've been setting the SC belt in the position which is further away from the SC, but after having a leaky snout seal, replacing the water pump and the harmonic balancer it got me thinking again if I'm putting the belt in the right position. Where should I be putting it? I've set it in the middle position of the 8 rib ZZP pulley for now. I don't remember which one would be the one that matches the original pulley's position.
 


Depends on which position the belt fits best in. You want your belt to be as tight as possible to reduce belt slip.
 
actually, you want to put it in the position that best aligns it with the rest of the pulleys in the system. Tension is controlled by the tensioner and belt size.
 
what are you talking about?

For the ZZP system you run in the middle.

That aligns the belt best.

results in most even wear.
 


Ah yes i forgot to mention that having the belt in that position also resulted in it wearing off quickly on the side closest to the sc.
 
ZZP pulley systems, like Matt said sit in the middle. Intense sit on the innermost (towards TB) ribs.

Very typically when I put a new belt on either, they like to jump one groove on the first start up. Fix it and it'll almost always stay where it belongs after that. Just an odd thing I've seen.
