Can you hook up relays to stock bulbs?

I want to hook up a relay to my lows highs and fogs that way I always have bright lights. I have a big system and despite having a huge red top battery and a 50 farad stinger cap my lights still dim a little. If you can hook up relays to stock bulbs please tell me how. Thank you very much. Oh yeah another reason I want relays is so my drl will be off, thanks again.

The cap really isn't going to help a great deal. Honestly, in the case of a "big system", an H.O. alternator may be your best bet. No need to go very expensive, depending on how "big" your system is... check out powerbastards for some decent alts. There's also a conversion kit that allows CS144 large-case GM alts bolt up to 3.8L engines. I'm not sure about hood clearance as I've never used it personally, but I thought I'd mention it. An upgraded alternator is definitely your best bet.

Yeah, but they don't dim. It won't fix his voltage drop (which is why his lights are dimming), but it will take care of the issue which he seems to have a problem with.

The main reason I want to hook up a relay to my stock low beams is to disable my drl. so can you hook up a relay like the ones people hook up for hids to regular bulbs?
 
I'd ditch the cap. It doesn't help your dimming issues and puts a larger strain on your charging system.

Hell no lol its for my system! I tried my system without it and kmy lights almost went off... Now there barely dim but they do dim a little thats why I want to know if you can hook a relay up.

If you're running components that require a 50f Capacitor then I would say you're probably taxing your electrical system just a bit and the HO Alt. is not going to hurt. You've obviously spent some cash on the stuff, it just might require a little more.

Have you load calculated your current/power draw from all you have installed, including the lights? Although I think the lights are the least of your worries unless your dimming only happens when you have the lights on. Without really knowing what kind of power you need at full load we're all only guessing here.

Lol... Have you considered a LARGER Cap? hahahaha, that boggles my mind to need something so big but they DO make them. The HO Alt. with 2nd battery set-up, larger cap might be what's needed here, isolating power to the added components on their own power grid! :D

I forgot to answer your question...

Yes, relays can be added if that's what you want to do.

The relay's act as switches, controlling the power going out to the device you want to turn on/off. The power line that is controlled by the relay can be from either the stock wiring or what is better is taking the power direct from the battery or fuse block. There are some set up's I've read and it is all a bit involved to do it right but not difficult as long as you do your homework first, lol.
