what is the highest horsepower youve seen in a grand prix?

Im just curious as i see all these people talking about supercharger and turbo.Its my understanding that these cars or at least mine(97) has a stock horsepower of 195,and a supercharger has about 240.So what does a turbo offer?What other things add horsepower,what have you seen as max horsepower on a grand prix?And i know this will be a total noob question but how does horsepower translate into speed,with the right amount of power can you exceed the 110 mph that is on the speedometer?If i am too understand that my stock grand prix were to race my stock nissan xterra(like 263 horsepower),the xterra would win?
 


So even against my xterra it would lose is what your saying.I see all these post of people racing mustangs,cameros,and bmws.Why would they want to embarass themselves like that.Earlier today i had a guy pull up to me in a corvette,he gunned the engine like he wanted me to respond...i was so embarrassed cause i knew this car had nothing to compete.

Um your car is not limited to what the speedo says. How fast your car can go depends on alot of things mainly hp/tq and gearing. The higher gears you have the faster your car can go untill it hits the redline. But you also have to have the hp/tq to make the car pull the gears. In other words it is technically possible to gear a car so high it cannot pull itself. On the other hand you can gear your car so it can go though all 4 gears in 30 seconds but it may only go 70mph but u will get there fast. That is how alot of cars go so fast in the quarter mile but only have 400 to 500 hp
 
I know very little about cars period.Ironically when i was 18 i bought my uncles 71 camero.I used to take it all the time up to 110 mph,and that was smooth.Im sure it could have easily went alot faster but i would get the shakes and couldnt totally floor it.
 
On your grand prix nixon? Well thats cool.I just got this grandprix from a friend a few weeks ago.Its got rust,dents,dings,had bad,bad tires,bad outer tie rods,air filter that was more like sod,leaking bottom gaskets,still has dexcool in it(no telling how long),probably bad engine mounts,etc,etc.Not to mention the many little things like the wiper motor,wiper pump,bad coil,needing new plugs,and seems like endless little things that need fixing.But for some reason i have fallen in love with it,
 
my 97 gets massive kr past 100mph my 06 wont go faster then 108.9 (gps speed) 108 on the speedo cuz of limiter

Wow! Did u get it for free?? Not to be a dick but it sounds like ur friend dumped his pos on you.
 
Right now i dont take this car over 70,afraid it will kill it lol.Eventually i will have it back in condition.Money is tight,so fixing little things at a time and hoping it will survive at 211k miles on it.It is my DD.
 
No.Not free.I gave them $1000.I needed a car pretty bad.The car does start right away and runs pretty good,just alot of maintenance and minor issues.Way back when this car came out i had really wanted one,loved the styling.
 
Junk Yard will be your friend on this one. If you have a couple in your area look around them and see if you can find a couple nice parts cars that you can pull parts off of. Its a good way to get replacement parts for little to nothing.
 


Thanks TL.Im already set to go to a few junk yards when i get a chance.And yes i know 110 is nothing to you speedracers and in hindsight i wish i had taken it faster,i think i let the fear of thinking i might not be able to stop in time on the interstate scare me lol.
