Stainless Brake Lines - An Upgrade?

the only reason you'd notice a difference is if your stock lines are OLD and ballooning under pressure.

You wanna know good difference in braking? Quality brake pads. I've got F-bodies on both of my cars, and only one has stainless lines. I can't tell any difference, in fact, the one without SS lines has semi-metallic pads and it feels better under braking vs. my other with ceramic.

I just don't think they're the big rave that lots of people say. But I'm not picky about how they "feel", I just wanna stop.

i disagree..stainless lines feel fantastic vs the stock lines. ive driven a couple different cars with the same brake setups some with ss some without and i by and large felt like the cars with them had a pedal that almost felt like it should, instead of like stepping on a wet sponge (aka stock w body brakes)

But did you know which were ss vs. OEM? Or could you tell without being told?

Seems like it would be more of a mental mod to me...about like all the suspension/brake mods I've done.

brake feel is overrated.

Agreed. I realize it's probably more opinion than anything, but I don't need a good "solid feel" to the pedal. If I just lay my foot on the pedal to brake, and it stops with little effort, I'm good.

i hate when the pedal is hard as a rock and the car nose dives when i touch the pedal. if that is what you are after you dont know how brakes are supposed to work.

Not to be a dick about your previous awesomeness, but stiffer breaking is going to lead up to locking up sooner and sliding even easier on wet and slippery surfaces.

I'm planning on getting these eventually and they do make the pedal feel much better. But a proper pad, tire, and rotor are still the best brake mods you can do. I'd look into some good pads first like Hawks, they're cheaper than the lines and you'll be better off.

When I had my Camaro they definitely helped with brake fade and to me that is worth it, it makes me more confident in the car's capabilities.

pretty sure that thread is wrong....i lost several feet off my 60 to 0 distance..i can now out brake a gxp which isnt saying alot until you remember how horrid the factory brakes are on the prixs. and im sure drunkie can weld his face to his windshield using nothing but braking power. having said that tires make a world of difference as well

And you really only need tires if you're locking them up while braking, ABS helps as well. If you're not then it's time to get some more stopping power.
