Supercharger Snout Leaking??

crock

New member
There is something either coming from the supercharger or somewhere, but it is oil. It smells like supercharger oil. I was just wondering what you guys thought the leak may be? It leaks onto the top of the manifold right by the coolant elbow. Also, as I drive I can smell the oil burning.

Thank you!

Remove snout.

Seal snout against rotor pack with anaerobic sealer.

Bolt snout back down.

Fill up with oil.

Done.

Thought you had to take pulley and everything off to fix it? And just run the sealer all around where the snout meets the rotor pack?

You only have to remove the pulley if the snout seal is leaking.

Is there fluid on the hood?

No fluid on the hood. Just going onto the manifold. And those Valve cover gaskets are new. Basically, it smells like crap so I know its supercharger fluid

And I saw the video but I dont own a press or a puller.

you can leave the pulley on the snout and still remove the snout, whole job takes about 30 minutes or so. easy.

So its junk then? That pisses me off because it was replaced at around 70k. Has like 128k on it now...

It doesn't need rebuilding, all you need is a socket wrench, remove the oil, remove the bolts. I believe it's ten of them open it up, apply the sealer around the edges and close it back up and tighten the screws, simple.

Thats all? So it isnt anything serious then? Good. Can I use synthic oil for now until the GM stuff comes in?

Sounds like I actually have something to do tonight. If I wasnt so introvert, I would get out...

Nick: can you seriously use syntetic oil instead?

Crock: does it also leave deposits inside the pulley or underneath the snout? mine does that sh1t, but it's the snout seal that's leaking.
