Car has no heat! And winter is here....

So now that winter is approaching I have noticed the car has little to no heat. It is a 06 GT 3.8 supercharged. I changed the t-stat to a stock temp, replaced water pump, coolant flush and I used gm coolant. After it was all said and done and went for a drive I noticed the engine temp was just below the first line which I thought was pretty low. I was looking it over while it was running I noticed tha a/c compressor was running even with out the switch on. I unplugged the compressor and it got a little warmer but not much. Even with the temp cranked to 90*. The heater core top hose was hot to the touch with the lower one a little cooler but still very warm.

SO any ideas? I was thinking of pulling the heater hoses off and running some water through to see if it was blocked but that will be tomorrow night. Thanks for any ideas you all can give. Thanks
 


Did you have it on Defrost? IIRC that runs the A/C compressor as well.

Did you bleed the air out of the cooling system after replacing all that stuff? If not, give it a go and then see if you get heat. I would be there is massive amounts of air in the system.
 
How do you bleed the coolant system? And the blower motor still works just fine. And where is the blend door and how do I check it?

Open the little bleeder screw ontop of the thermostat housing and run the car up to temp and wait for all the air bubbles to escape and steady stream of coolant coming out then close it. It may take 10-15 min but its a simple thing to do.
 


If your problem turns out to be the heater core , don't take your entire dash apart , in fact don't touch it , its underneath , it's A small job for one person I know first hand , just did mine last week
 
well I think now it may be a heater core. With the heat cranked to high the heater core lines only 1 is getting hot. The other one is cool/ warm

pull both hoses off the engine, use a garden hose to flush out the core. use a fair amount of pressure from the garden hose.
 
Ok , you'll have to take off the hoses on the fire wall , the two plastic covers under the dash , stereo cluster , front seats , center console , carpet kit , then take the air duct for the rear out and be careful not to break the plastic vent cover ( like I did ) then look under and take all the gold screws out ( 6 mm. ) drill out the plastic that looks like it was melted in , and the heater core will pop out . :th_thumbsup-wink: p.s.give yourself about 2-3 hour's
