exhaust

I really need help to know what type of exhaust to put on my 99 gt. i want something that sounds bad ass. I am told by you guys/girls that flowmaster is not the way to go. Any ideas on what to use?

So from what I have read and everything, is the 3800 not really an engine to do exhaust work to? I am looking to do exhaust but want a nice deep sound but from what I have seen and heard it idles nicer but at high RPM's can get kind of "ricer" sounding. I dont have loads of money to spend. What is a decent way to get a good sound and little more performance.

Would trying to find the stock exhaust to a GT model and throwing that on help? I have a 2008 so it is just single out exhaust.

Deleting the resonator is a bad idea unless you have very quiet mufflers.

Even with a cat, and a stock replacement catback I still get done under 1400 RPM.

Not that I'm there often if ever.

catless headers...a stock resonator or a BIG glasspack...the stock rezzy is still quieter...

You want quiet mufflers...not anything like Flowmaster or anything chambered.

Think: SLP, Borla, Magnaflow, Corsa...

Also, larger diameter piping doesn't help...the factory catback, single or dual outlet should be good to 300+ WHEEL HP.

Why do I want quiet exhaust? Sorry, I am used to some noise. The truck I had before this car had dual flowmaster 40 series. Thing sounded like a beast.

The way the exhaust is setup is the key...which is why RWD 3800's sound pretty decent.

Been there with Flowmaster's...done that. Sounds fine at idle...once you hit the gas, pooping out the tailpipe ensues.

If you want loud...A catted header setup with a shorter glasspack (I guess like a 16-20") with no mufflers would be plenty loud. I've had that setup for a little while and it actually didn't rasp at all, just sounded...kinda...odd.

This was my track exhaust setup...no cat, headers, pretty beefy man cam, with a 30" glasspack and I just dumped it...

And then I did a full 3" setup...with the same catless headers, 30" glasspack and one universal Billet Proflo Race muffler (I think it was like 9" long) after the glasspack...then it Y'd into the 3" pipe to the 4" G8 GXP replica tips...BAM.
