hey guys ! Dang, its been awhile sense i've been on this site. Took me a good 5 minutes to figure out how to post a thread hahaha ! Ended up selling my 99 GTP- was getting worried about the mileage and the trans, ran so good and shifted good but it hit 200k miles so figured it was best to get rid of it. Still miss the car, Sold it and got a 2003 Tiburon GT 6 speed, Ehh. Looked sexy but drove ****ty - hated the car pretty much - horrible gas mileage and for a 6 speed I was hitting 3500RPM at 70mph - Horrible on gas! Sold it 2 days ago and GOTTTTT a 2004 Grand Prix Wide Track Edition, 155k miles - But I got the best deal in the world I think?... I purchased the car already modded - Slotted rotors, 160tstat, Tuned, 3.5'' Pulley or 3.4 cant remember :o.. Custom Headers "dunno brand but they look new"Thrasher intake, cat delete. Black with 17'' black rims, Lowered about 2-3'' Looks awesome! Has so much power I can't believe it. Guess how much I paid..?!?!? $3,500 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yeah crazy. Anyways - A few problems with it that im concerned about... First, the car runs great and shifts very smoothly - RPM's dont jump while in park running or anything, BUT every frickin service light is on, CEL,ABS,TRAC, etc.. The guy I purchased it from told me its because its modded, which I believe i've heard that before -- I scanned and 4 different codes come up, well actually 9 but its duplicates so really 4, Like 02 sensor, Something with the heater - though it works great!, tempature etc.. So im not really concered, but the messege center does bug me with all the codes lol.

So, the GP has the shifts on the steering wheel - I put the transmission in "M" and try to use them and nothing? So I can't figure that out - Also the HUD -- I can see it on the windshield if I look for it, but the little controller for it by the middle console wont move it up or down, only if I twist the thing I can turn it on or off- Kinda sh*tty but o- well.
My sunroof if I open and close it - I have to keep pushing the button to get it to close because holding the button to close it - stops on its own - and makes a weird clicking noise - I went ahead and greased it tonight so hopefully that helps with that....

If anyone has any suggestions on the HUD or Shift thing i'd appreciate it, also if anyone has any idea what mod I should do next that be great too, maybe thinking a smaller pulley?

Thanks guys and im glad to be back !:th_laugh-lol3:

160* tstat is too cold, put a 180 in there.

abs/tc is a wheel bearing problem most likely

got any gauges in the car, like a scangauge?

I wonder how its really running, like knock and other things.

dropping pulleys again is the last thing you would ever want to do.

If I can remember right -- one of the codes might have been a knock sensor but im not too sure. I forgot to mention , one of the mufflers is missing so its pretty loud - But I don't hear any knocking at all - The car runs pretty damn good actually - but I guess you could say I am alittle worried about the mods, like if they were done right? It has 2x the power my 99 GTP * feels like anyways * engine sounds good, the oil is good. I dont have any kinda gauge like that -hell this car has so many damn options I can't figure half of them out! I use an OBD2 scanner. I will get the 180tstat considering were in the 40-50's now. I appreciate it. any more insight would be great!

first problem, you bought a modded car that you know nothing about.

he may have sold it because he had the same worry's you had that caused you to sell the last gp.

modded cars dont have ses lights on if done right too.

has the pcm been tuned? i would try to find out.

abs lights, check the wires to the hub/sensors to start, check wheel bearings for play, may need a new hub. or have it scanned at a shop that can scan abs, the autozone scanner wont get the job done for abs codes.

You wont hear Knock Retard. You need a scan tool to see it.

I know if I turn the wheel I hear clicking in the wheels, dad thinks its CV joints - So i'll check that out-- For the tuned, the guy said it was tuned - whether it was or not I don't know forsure and also don't know how to find out.? I will scan the car and give the codes I get. Give me 5 minutes

i'd give the front end the once over, you hear clicking when parked or moving?

do you feel it in the steering wheel? or just hear it? does it vibrate under light throttle at highway speed?

could be tie rods, intermediate shaft, ball joints ect...

only if turning sharp - Rides like a dream on the highway. Its a clicking/poping noise - Dad thinks its from flooring it and the wheels spinning through 2nd gear. Lol

I found out one of my wheel sensors were unpluged. I plugged it back in and it didnt help any... Also found out the headers say pace setters on em :P

if its been off for a long time it could be real dirty, try to clean it up,(electrical parts cleaner) put a dab of di electrical grease on the plug end, slide it on and off a few times to work the grease in. it may still be a good hub, just bad connection. check the wire harness for cracks or cuts in the wires to, all 4.

I checked the back as well, they were all plugged in.. Hmm. So the one that was in the front unplugged, I pulled it out and kept connecting and disconnecting it - I seen a few wires from the plug so its probably bad. Didn't have the elect. spary. I used my compressor and sprayed both ends with some air - Didnt start it to see if it was fixed - tired of messin with it.:th_sick2:

If you get get it to a shop that uses a tech 2 scanner (most likely a dealer) they can tell you which wheel hub is causing the Service Stability system warning. Looks I concur on needing a new front 02 sensor. Check the O2 sensor fuse in the underhood fuse block as well. I have Pacesetters on my 04 and I melted the front O2 wires once when they touched the crossover pipe from the front bank and that popped the fuse and made the car run terrible so check the wires for the front O2 sensor as they would have had to be lengthened for use with the pacesetters. As far as the code for the rear O2 sensor, you're going to need to have someone with a tuner turn that code off if you're running catless.
