Pulled Over

Call me an OldFart if you like (LOL) but I've fought a few tickets in my day (because I felt I was in the right) and won them all. The idea of fighting a ticket that I know am am guilty of just seems very strange to me. Never done it. Especially when you knew full well that you you were guilty of 6 of them before you even got into the car. In my experience, a cop will generally let you off on 1 out of 2 tickets. When there's 7, forget it. Your attitude at the time probably had little to do with it but your attitude towards the law and vehicle safety spoke volumes to him. Back in my day we drove some pretty fast cars; late 60s early 70s muscle cars. We went out of our way NOT to draw attention to ourselves. We called them "sleepers". Sorry to come off sounding like your grandfather here, I just thought I'd toss in a persepctive from an OldFart. Peace.

As for fighting a ticket you know you are guilty of, its not any different than a murderer going to trial to try to get off on a technicality or get a reduced sentance with a plea bargain.

I have plead not guilty to 4 tickets in my lifetime. I was guilty of 3 of them and the 4th was comeplete bullsh!t. The 3 I was guilty of I got reduced to a non points ticket and reduced fine. The bullsh!t ticket I made the cop look like a fool and got the ticket thrown out.

Its not about trying to get out of things, as much as it is trying to get a reduction.

This is what it comes down to! Cops profile all the time based on what your car and then you look like, sound like and how you act.

i can attest to this. i got pulled over (idk why, apparently i must have left the stop sign too quickly in my racekar) and the lady cop literally told me "you dont look like a criminal, show me proof of insurance and ill let you go."

clearly the heifah judged me. but it got me out of a ticket so im okay with that. and im sure my positive attitude helped too ;) not that you were rude or anything. lol

It sounds as if almost everyone thinks you need to fix your $hit. But a tinted windshield looks good, but only on a trailer queen show car. On the not having your license, here is why you need it. If/when you are in a wreck and you will be IF you are unconscious or dead how will the officers or EMT's know who you are or who to contact. Yes you may be in your car, but you might be riding with a friend. This actually happened: two girls went out to a party. One girls had no pockets so she asked her friend to hold her license. The one holding it put it in her back pocket while hers was in her purse. The girls holding the other's license was driving the other girl's car. Car accident driver was killed. The Police showed up to the vehicle owner's house and told them their daughter had died in the crash. Why not. The license in the girls back pocket seemed to match her and it matched the registration. Yes both girls were blond and similar in height. How bad do you think the officers felt when they found out the wrong family had been notified. And it's a good thing the other girl didn't have allergies that could have killed her. Just FYI.

I'd have to look at the potential gain and odds of a reduction versus time off work and my own time and expense. It would simply be a financial decision and not one based on principal. Points would be a consideration as well. I guess that decision would be different for everyone.

you can get away w/ the windsheild tint
IF you have a prescription from an eye doctor and approval from the court
(at least in FL)

A lot are saying that I deserved all of these because of my attitude, I was being polite when I was talking to him. I even said "good afternoon" and mostly kept my mouth shut while he did all the nagging. Everycop is different.

I got pulled over two weeks ago also. Officer said I was swerving. I told him that I was talking to mywife while I was driving and my headlights dont work that well aswell. Took my info, Insurance, Registration, License (4 days expired). Came back to my car literally a minute later, asked me If I was drinking, Said no. Gave me my information and said have a good night. We left.

I tell ya, one thing that gets me, are the cops them selfs. They ***** about us having dark tint, look at them, even off duty on their personal cars, half these cops have illegal tint. This does piss me off, because its stupid, if we can't then they sure as hell shouldn't.... Never see any cop get pulled over for tint on their own personal cars.. :th_angry2:

Not trying to start a seatbelt rant here but if I don't wanna wear it and I am the only person in my car I don't see the issue. I don't need you or the police telling me I HAVE to wear a seat belt. You will say "If you don't wear it you are stupid" To that all I have to say is this: If you are in a hospital you can refuse any life saving devices you want and it's not against the law. I also don't see people getting fines for jumping out of airplanes or doing other stuff that is not exactly "Safe". If you say you could hurt other people by not wearing a seat belt, show me the stats of projectile humans in car accidents causing fatal injuries to others.

You should have the reason of dieing in a car crash if you want but I dont want to pay for you when you get in a crash and dont die but you end up with mental problems and you have live on tax payers money

To Pure2Sin...

I always wear my seatbelt regardless...

Why?

Because of this:

If my girlfriend and I weren't wearing them we wouldn't be here today...I have a clean driving record, wreck wise...and that jackass pulled out in front of my at 55mph...but its your life...not any of ours...and I don't mean to get this thread off track...but hopefully you have enough common sense to take the two seconds to put it on before you take off the next time.

Illegal things are illegal.

If you don't want to pay the fine, don't do the crime. Plain and simple.

Wellll maybe you shouldn't feel half as bad lol. I just got pulled over tonight for the FOURTH frikken time in my driving experience. This time, I was doing 52 in a 40. It was on the highway and it had just dropped zones, crossed two cops parked in the median no lights nothing, they clocked me, radioed to the car shining his headlights waiting for my blue GTP and wah bam he pulled me over. Asked if my record was clean I said spotless. He asked if he we had illegal stuff/narcotics etc. NO. He asked if I had ever gotten pulled over before. Um...no. (lies...I mean seriously am i gonna tell you ive been pulled over 3 times and clearly deserve a ticket?? NO) Annd so he took my license/insurance, ran my plates and what not, come back said slow it down bye. WELL THANKS. :)

4 times, no ticket. WTF

Why should he not feel half as bad when you've been pulled over four times and received zero tickets, and he got pulled over once and received seven? Lol

remove all illegal tint and drive it to court and take a pic of the car outside of court that day and try to get some of the tickets dropped, sometimes judges are more senseable than cops sine they weren tthe ones all pissed at you that day

I agree with you and most of the time I do wear it. But do I think it should be illegal NOT to wear it, not on my life (Pun intended).

Don't mean to be a dick but the law is the law...just because you don't agree with something, doesn't mean they are going to change it.

I see where your coming from but I also have experienced first hand now necessary they are.

It's such a simple thing...it's like looking both way before walking out into a street...you shouldn't even think about doing it...it should just be a natural motion.
