Cold Air Rattling Against PCM

crock

New member
Does anyone else have this problem? Its only at the stop. The lower RPMs make it rattle against the PCM. I zip tied the cold air to the Brace Bars and also bungee corded the PCM to the car. I have a LS1 maf so I am using the stock elbow to the maf then to the cold air.

FIXED,
but anyways,
mine use to do this untill i zip tied it down and that made it stop, but i think part of the problem is the fact that your using the stock pipe/tube thing and thats giving it alot flex, replace the accordion tube and pull the zip ties tighter and it should stop it from rattling

Why did you put hot air? And replace it with what? That wasnt much help, just you making fun of my post. Great help.

just make the intake shorter and then you wont have to deal with this problem.

Having it longer to try and get cold air is pointless because the instant it reaches the supercharger, its super heated anyway. Cold air to hot air hp differenece is maybe .5 of a hp.

The ribbed section only causes a turbulence issue that realistically goes un-noticed.

Stick with the longer filter...

If its rattling forget zipties (they're tacky anyways)... go to your local auto store. Buy foam insulation, 1/2" thick x 1-2" wide, sticky on one side and put it on the PCM... rest the filter on it, no more rattles... no more worries.

your welcome,
you really think you have a "cold" intake just because theres a cone filter on the end of some pipe??...nahh no such thing
with what?, you dont know what i ment by replace the stock pipe?, you replace it with another pipe
or you could just put the filter on the end of the tb, or in your case at the end of the maf with the maf on the tb
to figure what you need replace it with, search and find one of the 50 "Cold" air intake threads or one of the 10 how to's about it and go to home depot

Goober, before you get all defensive, take a step back.. Chill a little... he just needs help on making it stop rattling... not how to make it better. Hes running a 3.4 with mods, Im sure hes got an idea of what to do... I hope anyways.

Lets chill before this escalates into a fight and gets locked :th_biggrin2:
NAO BAK @ UR KORNERZ!!!!

yes you did... but

^^^ Its alot cheaper, and will allow him to get rid of the tacky zip ties.

Minus the LS1 MAF, his intake is the same as mine, I need no zip ties... I just put padding between them so they don't rattle :th_peaceout:
I even put some on the bottom of the PCM so it doesn't rattle on the shelf and needed no zip ties or bungies to hold it in place either ;)

yes that is cheaper,
both ways will get the job done, and getting rid of the accordion section will be better, no matter what his running, even tho it does very little if any, especially runnin a 3.4
going forward is always an improvement no matter how simple or little it is

Just didn't think someone on here would be a dick about it. But i mean when it comes to something simple like a intake, i understand you getting pissed. But if you are, then dont blow up my post. All i want is help. I've tried a few things. And yea, i know several ways of doing a different intake, this is just the easiest with the ls1 MAF. And it does run colder than a stock one. Even if in the end its not by that much. And I've put some foam on the PCM, Well it was 3M tape.

use something stiffer like the pic above i see that you are from KC and i still have said piece being used if you want it

I realize how to make one. I get it. Ok. Im trying to stop the rattling without changing everything around. You have a stock MAF. I dont't. It would be hard to squeeze that in with the MAF and a 9inch cone.

^this... is why I just suggested the foam tape... it stops the vibration and won't change anything he's already done.
