New to me 97 se, New headlights in my 04 and then...

first off i picked up a 97 gp se from a friend for $500, it has two issues, first is leaking lim gaskets, they thought it was much worse then it really is. it just ran out of coolant and the water pump started to squeal. i picked it up and put coolant in it to drive it home and with about 30 mins hwy driving (and a bit of messing around with my cousin that was in my 04 gtp lol) it new got close to getting hot. this car also needs a set of air bags, the car has a clear title with no documented history of a wreck,

the first pic makes the hood look funny in the middle, thats just moisture, i plan on fixing the tow more major issues as well as replacing both headlights ($35 a side at rockauto.com!) repair the bad window track for the drivers door, and do something about the missing clear coat on the spoiler, then sell the car for a hefty profit!

And heres my story,
I was following my cousin to a bowling ally that i have never been too, we were doing about 35 -+ when we came to the location, i had thought the turn was farther the property when in fact it wasn't.
My cousin literally slammed on his brakes with no warning at all, i heard his tires lock up then he swerved out the opposite direction of the turn to make the turn... if one can understand that... i slammed on my brakes and turned to try and avoid him but hit him, all in all it was my fault but my cousin did about all he could have to incurage the situation

luckily i have full coverage and will be in contact with progressive tomorrow. also i work for the largest dealership in eastern iowa, i plan to get the work done there because i know they do top noch jobs

This really sucks, i love my car and hate to see it in this condition,
i wash my car 2-3 times a week and wipe the rims down every other day just about and this just makes me sick

what! no posts?

got a check cut from progressive today for $2300 after my deductible, i have alot more plans then just fixing whats broke, i plan to install speed daddy headers, 3.4-3.5 inch pulley, a tune as well as the little supporting mods.
i have a good lead on a inferno hood and air dam that should be going on the front soon as well

wow thats a big check, considering you could repair that stuff for way less.

yeah man you could definitely do some nice mods with the left over mulla

yeah i pushed to get everything done fast, progressive is awesome btw!, my bank that i have a small loan on the car with is being dumb and thinks that i need to show them proof that the car got repaired BEFORE i get the money.... so im refinancing with my own bank and dropping down almost 3% in interest rate

update

as of today my 98 is with a friend (ASE/GM certified tech) getting new airbags installed

ordered a crap ton of parts for my 04 that include, brand new fender, brand new headlight, inferno hood, inferno lower air dam, spo grills, speed daddy headers, 3.4 pulley (dont know if thats the right size for me yet)

in about a week and a half ill be parking the car in the garage to get the front and rear bumpers repainted, as well as the fender and the inferno hood and air dam color matched, im am also going to get that plastic piece that goes below the rear bumper body color matched

after i get the bill for the paint work i plan to buy a tuned ecu from overkill, change my plugs out for a little bit colder ones and slap the headers and under drive pulley installed, then i think i am going to order some new exhaust tips from pfrc.com
