I remember seeing the interior of the concept way back when and didn't think it looked good. In fact, I didn't like it much at all. But the subtle differences tell the story and it's freaking awesome.

I'm going to be taking a serious hard look at these when they hit dealers. Probably get the 2011 model so they work the bugs out of the initial 2010 model. 425HP stock... :th_king-evil:

Its nice to see the green light that they WILL be out! I think the gas mileage that they are rated at is pathetic though, the LS1 cars would get 28-30mpg on the highway and the LT1 cars werent too far off of that mark. And now an engine in a car that was set to hit the streets for 2010 is rated at 5mpg worse and they are boasting about fuel economy??? Are they serious!!! Even the V6 being rated at 26 isnt anything to brag about. Nonetheless I like the enhancements to the interior and I have always really liked the new body style since the protos have been floating around.

Wherever you heard it, they would be incorrect. GM has promised ample quantities of all trims (including the V8 SS) at launch. Trying to make Dodge's launch of the Challenger look bad. ;)

They also want to try and keep any markup down.

I agree I hated the concept car interior, but this looks sweet. I'm feeling the same as you. I plan on waiting until 2011 or 2012 with the hopes of the Z28 or maybe the T/A. Gives em time to work out the first run bugs. Plus gives aftermarket companies time to make some nice add ons :th_thumb-up:

A T/A... thats a challenger

thats ok though... they are making a replica of the 6 pack hood to make it look like the old T/As

2009 Dodge Challenger Drag Race Package - Autoblog

"This weekend, Dodge officially unveiled two Challenger Drag Race Package cars that made their inaugural runs down the 1/4 mile track in front of thousands of race fans at the Mopar Mile-High Nationals near Denver, CO. Based on the standard Challenger SRT8, each of the Drag Race Package cars features a completely stripped body that has the body sealer, sound deadener, and undercoat all removed. Additional components are also left out including the windshield wipers, HVAC system, air bags, rear seats, power steering, exhaust system, side-impact beams, rear bumper beam, and more. Further weight is saved by using composite and poycarbonate components, and overall a total of 1000 pounds has been shaved off the car.

Additional changes include repositioning the engine for a better driveline angle, a slightly shortened wheelbase, a bolt-in crossmember, and solid engine mounts. Engine options include the 6.1L and 5.7L HEMI or the 5.9L Magnum Wedge. Mopar will build at least 100 of the cars to meet NHRA requirement, and they will be eligible to run in Comp, Super Stock, and Stock categories. Pricing will start in the low $30,000 range, and Mopar will begin taking orders in late August or September. Full details can be found in the press release after the jump."
