Title says it all I wanna hear from people who have bought the kits whats your experience any pros any cons?

I'm not bashing ZZP but I was reading the feed back on their kit and not a single positive anyone wanna share a hands on experience? maybe change my outlook on the kit.

I'm looking to see what to go with and what to stay away from I don't wanna spend huge amounts of $ and get junk, So I'm hoping to not make a mistake that has already been made lol.
Thanks.

I have no experience with Turbo GPs... and don't know what I'm talking about. :th_jester:

EDIT: corrected, retracting previous statements

I figured I would get told to search lol theres those people on every forums. Im not lazy i was hoping to get a thread started so people could use it to compare kits all in one instead of searching multiple threads

sorry... was corrected... seems to be a invalid response on my part and a bad referral... ignore me and wait patiently :th_winking:

Nah it was good im glad you did i wasn't trying to be a ass lol. I did get ahold of him i think lol. I was just hoping to kind of pile everything in one section is all for people who were interested in going turbo then they had a reference to look at instead of jumbling through posts and possibly missing vital information.

Where are you seeing negative feedback on ZZP turbo kits? I don't think I've ever seen someone dissatisfied with their stattama/z7/z3 kit.

I'd get a Z3 kit and save some money by making/plumbing your own air to air intercooler, there are writeups on this. It's a different kind of power going from supercharged to turbo.

Here are some reviews on the site itself:

I have only been to the track twice since the install.

Full weight of 3605 w/o driver
93 octane
1.9's, stock cam
same boost level matt set it at (12.5 w/ cutout open)
no tuning other than Matt's base tune
and the best part, my 225/60/16 all season snow tires.

Hi guys writing to tell you I am extremely satisfied with the Z7 Intercooled Turbo kit I purchased in May. I have put thousands of trouble free miles on the car as it’s being used as a daily driver for work, do the grocery shopping and pick up the kid from daycare. The only thing troubling is how many high end sports car and sedan drivers are stopping me after a race to ask what the hell I did to my car to put them in another zip code J. Keep up the great work and excellent support that you guys provide for our cars and hope you are having as much fun as I am as your turbo kit has brought me back to my Buick Grand National days.

Thought I would give an update after having this kit installed for 1 year. No real problems to speak of and still on the tune provided. No mods other than rockers/HV3. On 12psi car ran a 13.01 @ 111.11 on street tires with a 2.19 60'. On 14psi and out of injector it ran 13.32 @ 115.56 with a 2.29 60's spinning through first and second. Has scared the **** outta some people on the street. Thanks ZZP. Hoping for even faster traps with 65's and more boost. Still on the stock N/A trans as well.

I purchased and installed this kit in the fall of 09. The install took a couple days and I also added a front mount at the same time. On my HV3/Rocker setup the car rips on 12psi and with the help of some 110VP gas it was scary at 15psi. No issues and I am still running the PCM that Turbo Tim sent me. Thanks again ZZP :) Tranny here I come.

If you look on ZZP's website at the very bottom tiny letters you can see a few very dissatisfied customers and on another forum i was reading a few unhappy people saying the welds were bad etc but they could have improved them since.

I think you're referring to this (below). That is someone reviewing a CT or Cartuning turbo kit.
Thought I would forward a couple of pics to you from my CT kit I removed yesterday.. you will get a chuckle out of it...

pic1 shows the sweet smooth transition of WG into DP..hahahaha
pic2 shows sweet welds/airflow of WG from mani..hahaahaha
pic3 definately the best pic check this sweet transition in xover from front to rear bank..jesus it looks like he took a prybar to open airflow up from rear bank...what a piece of crap..
pic4 more of the same crap..I cant believe I paid for a setup that looks like a chinaman wouldn't even be happy selling at a sweatshop at discounted pricing

SS autochrome ebay headers have better welds then this crap

I had a good chuckle and also thought how many people are getting had for..
do what you like with the pics .. whomever..potential customers.. I don't care.. I maybe posting them on clubgp.. just to show what people are getting for their money..and where their hard earned money shoud be spent. what a joke.. it would be good just to steer people interested in turbo your way and maybe some forum pics will help them with their decision. I paid big money for this kit and it just pisses me off.. that kit is an absolute piece of monkey crap

former Craptuning guy
now the real deal soon to be Stattama HP guy

take care
sorry for the rant

Totally misread that and that is my mistake. im just gonna give up take it to a shop hand em the check book and tell em go nuts. I'm just getting to the point i wanna go fast but screw working on it.......

I've worked on a couple cars with the Z7 kit. Overall it seemed nice. Both sent the pipes to JetHot for coating etc.

From a mechanical standpoint, the Z7 wasn't easy to work around. It had to be unbolted and moved to pull a transmission. The pipes also gets very close to the rear valve cover. Meaning if you need to do anything under there, you have to disassemble as well. But then we have to drain coolant in most years to pull the rear cover.

the z7 kit is a MAX EFFORT type kit keep in mind... The power designed to come out of that sacrificies engine bay room.

A small turbo kit will make more power than even the craziest built m90 setup, keep that in mind.

It doesn't really take a whole lot of time to loosen 8 bolts on the turbo and kind of push things out of the way. Once you do that a few times as well as the upper/lower downpipe bolts you can get everything out pretty quickly. I always liked the idea of being able to go back to stock in half a days time. Run 12's without swapping cams or changing valve springs.

I have the older Z7 kit with the 5 bolt back housing, and 2 bolt wastegate flange. The newer pipes come with V bands and the way better Precision 6262. By far the best mod i have done is the turbo, check out my car in the members ride section and you'll see the transition fron N/A>M90>Turbo

Well I am for sure going with the z7 kit. Has anyone ever used a Cartuning kit? For the price the ZZP kit appears to be the best buy for the money even the kits with out the inter-cooler look to be a better buy then.

I wouldn't spend more than $2,000 on a full cartuning kit, because that's what they go for these days. Decent kit for the dollar, but obviously the z3/z7 are a little more refined.
