Weight Loss or Weight Gain Thread "2012"

Re: Weight Loss or Weight Gain Thread "2010/2011"

So I decided it was time to lose weight. 2 weeks ago, I was at 317lbs. I havent even worked out yet, I just stopped eating fast food and drinking pop and I've lost 7 pounds just like that. I just drink lots of water and eat relatively healthy, a lot better than before. I was eating fast food 5-6 times a week and always eating before bed. I've also noticed I have more energy now. Hopefully I can keep going and not give into the cravings. My bank account is thanking me too, if I keep this up ill have more money for mods cuz i wont be spending almost 150 on fast food in a month.

Exercise is certainly helpful, but regardless of whether your goal is to lose body fat, or put on muscle mass, 70 - 80% of your success will come from your diet, so it is no surprise that you're already seeing results. In fact, the first 20lb or so will be very easy to loose within the first month or two if you stick to what you're doing. However, don't get too cocky with that. Keep in mind that all you're initially loosing is water weight. Very little, if any, body fat has been shed. After the initial couple months or so, the weight loss will become significantly more difficult. This is why you have to get used to eating properly NOW so you can push through those points where it becomes more difficult. But keep it up. Even though you've already started feeling it, you haven't even scratched the surface as to how much better you will feel. ;)

As I said above, regardless of your goals, 70 - 80% of your success comes from what you're eating. In your case, you want to pack in QUALITY calories. You can work out as hard as you like and take every supplement under the sun, but only calories can actually increase muscle mass. Lots of:

Lean proteins - Chicken, fish/tuna, lean steaks, eggs, turkey, peanuts/*natural* peanut butter, etc.

COMPLEX carbs - *Brown* rice, *sweat* potato, whole *GRAIN* (not wheat) pastas/breads/cereals, oatmeal, fresh fruits & vegetables, etc.

GOOD fats - Fish/fish oils, peanuts/*natural* peanut butter, walnuts, almonds, cashews, pecans, etc.

Eat a good portion of food from each category above 5-6 times a day, and watch the difference. Also, make sure you're working out properly, as in doing all the lifts properly, not doing too many exercises per muscle group, not doing too many sets and/or reps per exercise, not training the same muscles more than once, MAYBE twice a week at the most, etc.

I had to give up all alcohol and caffeine due to some acid reflux symptoms this past summer. It's so easy to lose weight once you stop drinking all those calories. :) Congrats on the 7 lbs.

Re: Weight Loss or Weight Gain Thread "2010/2011"

Got lazy over the last month or so. Still hitting the gym but I was eating more for maintanence so I wasn't gaining and wasn't losing.

Getting back into it hard as of today. So somewhat restarting my goal

Start as of October 10, 2011
239lbs

Goal by November 10, 2011
230lbs

Re: Weight Loss or Weight Gain Thread "2010/2011"

Went camping. Woke up still thoroughly intoxicated, went for a 4.6 mile run. Really beautiful running through the mountains... heck of a lot less boring than suburbia or, god forbid, the treadmill.

Re: Weight Loss or Weight Gain Thread "2010/2011"

you went running while drunk?

you, sir, are a master of your craft.

Re: Weight Loss or Weight Gain Thread "2010/2011"

Down from 268 to 240. my goal is to hit 220 before year end. eating better as said above and lots of cardio has helped me get to where im at

Re: Weight Loss or Weight Gain Thread "2010/2011"

229lbs may come a little earlier than I expected. Been hitting the gym hard and watching my diet. 339lbs on Monday morning on an empty stomach. As of this morning down to 234lbs. Mostly gonna be water weight from that. But I've also changed up a good bit of stuff so my body is getting a fresh kick start so an initial quick loss makes sense.

Re: Weight Loss or Weight Gain Thread "2010/2011"

went to the gym today and lifted some weights. this is what i was missing when i was running. i wasnt really building anymore muscle. i need to do this more often.

I don't even bother with cardio much. I keep a heavy pace while lifting so my heart rate stays up there.

Re: Weight Loss or Weight Gain Thread "2010/2011"

You fvckers...I weigh the same 115 that I have since freshman year of high school and can't gain a single pound for some reason :(
