Brake installation tips

I need to install new rotors and pads all around my 01 gtp. Ive got the brake silicon, and will buy new clips.. (i forget what there called). I also will clean out the calipers and other areas before installation. Any other tips? Im not doing this on my own, the person I am doing it with has installed rotors before, but I would like to see if I am over looking anything.

Thanks for the tips!

hey so tell me what happened... i gotta do my rear rotors and pads this weekend, and I'm wondering if a normal c-clamp will retract the cylinders...reason i ask is because on my 88 regal you need a special tool that turns them as they retract...

make sure and spray the rotors with brake clean before putting the pads on (they have a coating on them that will clog the pads)

A normal C-clamp will work just fine.

My Lumina had those calipers. I hated using that little tool to turn the caliper as you compressed it. I dont think GM uses those calipers anymore, they were garbage. I replaced mine very often due to failure on the Lumina and was able to be part of a class action suit against GM for crappy calipers. I only was reimbursed 50 bucks though:(
Anyway No need for that tool with our calipers.
