• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

just need to vent here, any 2 cents is welcome!!

i own 2 gp's. a black 98 and a black 77. i stopped driving the 77 because it costed me $150 to fill the tank (it has a 650 horse 455 h/o) but about my venting: i realized with gas, food, insurance, taxes, etc going up and me not being able to afford to beef up my car as much as i want, i realized its never going to be perfect from the members rides on here, to the ones on ctgp club, cardomain, and clubgp. ive seen some nice gp's and im debating on quitting the beef up process of my car because i know ill never get it to the way i want it to compete with the 77 or even go to carshows, at least the pontiac/oakland ones so i can get at least 50% respect. so far ive done a full frontal grill job with matching rear, hotchkiss suspension/steering, true dual exhaust, cold air k/n intake, extensive dash work, and just plain waxing, claybarring, glazing and just trying to keep it nice. what i really wanna do is ws6 hood, turbo setup, l67, xp cam setup, dumpers, rear window louvers like the older t/a's have (i seen one with them and i thought i looked too cool), performance shift kit, hud, targa roof (yes i have seen a white one and i almost **** my pants when i saw it), black housed lights and rear, and just run a 12 at least. currently it runs high 14 but i do weigh 310lbs but i have lost 135lbs in 5yrs and ive had the car for 7. but, any nice ppl out there to give me some insight or any place where gp parts are dirt friggin cheap, id love to chat. enclosed are pix of my car i took last month just 15min after the claybar, waxjob used with mothers only (chip foose recommended) thx members and i hope to get to know some of you very soon!

Yea, look at my ride. Deffinatly not where I want to be. Been working on her for a long while. Spend a few dollars here and there. Save up for the big stuff. That's what I am doing know. Saving up to start buying engine parts. Then I will build it. Won't be anytime soon, especially with a wife and two kids. Theeir needs before my own. Time patience and money. It just takes longer for the money part. Don't give up your dream. It will all come together eventually.

thanx i appreciate it. the road just seems so long with what i wanna do. i guess it just seems that with my 77 taking me my whole highschool 4yrs to do.)

I just bought mine a few months back, and I'm right there with you. The road looks so long, but when I see the other gp's on here I get inspired to get mine the way I want it. I think for now I'm just going to do the 3.4 pully with necissary mods, and some body and call it good until I'm ready to put some more money in it for a smaller pulley and real motor work. At least your ahead of me..:th_laugh-lol2:

thanx for all the replies i appreciate it. it just felt like sucha short process when i built 77 which was only 4yrs of highschool. ive had the 98 for 7yrs and theres waaay less to do to on that than my 77 b/c my 77 is done. (maybe because i work and theres just not enough time during the day, i dunno)

That's about right. Not much time after working all day. Back when I was in school, I had a 72 Chavelle and it gat built alot faster than the GP. They're alot simpler to build though because there's no pcm to deal with and parts are alot cheaper.

thats a good point as well. but im really just going with more image than performance because my 77gp gave me a blackout (yes im only 24, high bp, and overweight) and it almost killed me with the balls it has. so now i have health problems which im in the process of fixing. but im just contimplating on doing the stuff though because it has 116k on the clock and everyone told me no, because of the high milage. but seriously, i wanna attend shows, and possibly "get some" and just earn respect as well as spend time gazing at it.

Can't argue with that. That's where mine originally started off as. Did alot of shows with her. Now I want some go under the hood. I also have a GT that I am going to use as my cruzer right now. It will take me awhile, but I'll get the GTP where I want her eventually. Yea you gotta get your health straightened out first so you can enjoy all your work. If you need any help finding some apperance items, let me know and I'll do all I can to help you out.

thanx man. ya thats what im gonna do is work on my health while i work on the car since is a nice hobby. i pretty much know where im getting everything as far as pfyc, zzp, stattama, slp, ebay, and the gp forums i belong to. thanx for the offer, we'll see what happens.

If you go on a strict diet you will lose weight all you have to eat is fish, chicken, vegetables, fruits etc. no McDonalds, Taco Bell or crap like that it sucks but you will adapt to it and excersize will also help. As far as your GP you will get it to where you want to be you are still real young. Do you ever take the 77 to any local car shows?

Also bake your food instead of frying it. That will help out alot. Deffinatly would like to see some pics of the 77.

Got to say first off, nice ride...take your time as everyone says. All the work you put into it will put a smile to your face when people say wow thats sharp or wow thats a pretty quick car...sometimes a lil time and honest hard work is all it takes. Oh and as for the diet...drink water water water...stay away from the soda's and drinks with high fructose corn syrup in it.

no its not the diet, its my genetics the doctor said. high bp runs in the family all the way back to my grand father. ill definitely look for pix of the 77 i should have some somewhere. i got so many compliments on it and pulled over countless times because a 455 h/o with dumpers literally shakes the ground. cant take her out anymore though because i spent $150 to fill the tank. (it takes high octane, im not sure if its racing fuel or just 127) but ill definitely look for pix. plus judges are assholes.

thanx everybody for the high hopes, replies and positve attitudes toward me, as im not ase certified master wise but definitely know enough to just barely get by.
